Purice Busts Rex

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Adrian Buckley and Jarrod Rex have been sent to the rail. The latter called an open-raise and then faced a three-bet by Tudor Purice to call and see a flop of {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. Both players checked and Rex then shoved the {10-Clubs} turn for 95,700, for twice the pot. Purice asked for a count and then made the call.

Rex: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}
Purice: {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The {9-Clubs} river was a blank for Rex and he was sent to the rail.

Mignot Doubles Through Moorman

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Cards were on their backs and it wasn't good news for Edouard Mignot who was standing up before the cards were even dealt. Moorman held {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and Mignot had {a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}, and Mignot started to gather his things. The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and he began to tuck his chair under the table. The river? The {7-Hearts}. A tiny surprised noise emanated from Mignot's mouth as the dealer counted out his stack for the double up.

Hadad Doubles; Calamusa Up Slightly

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Adrian Mateos three-bet a raise of Or Hadad and then pushed the flop {6-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} with {5-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for a pair and a straight draw. Or Hadad called all in with the {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and held up with the {9-Clubs} turn and {10-Diamonds} river, standing up and celebrating. The Israeli doubled up for 78,400 and Mateos was left with just over 30 big blinds.

One table over, Pierre Calamusa opened to 6,000 and Adrien Allain called from one seat over in the cutoff. On the flop {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Calamusa continued for 7,100 and Allain called before Calamusa check-folded the {3-Hearts} turn to a bet of 9,000. The Winamax Pro is still enjoying a decent start into Day 3, same goes for Kevin Killeen on the TV table.

Nishijima Doubles Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Thiago Nishijima
Thiago Nishijima

Brazilian World Series of Poker bracelet winner Thiago Nishijima pushed all in with the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} and got looked up by Bulgarian Ognyan Dimov holding the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}.

It was a classic race and Nishijima's queens held through the {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board to give him the double up.

Thorel Knocks Out Stern in Remarkable Hand

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Ofer Zvi Stern
Ofer Zvi Stern

Zvi Stern was missing from the table, but luckily for us his former neighbor Bart Lybaert knew exactly what had happened. He told us the hand with a smile on his face, stating it was rather bizarre.

From the cutoff, Zvi Stern raised to 6,500 only to be met by a button three-bet from Jean-Noel Thorel. Stern called and the flop came {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}. Stern now open shipped his last 70,000 or so, and Thorel called.

Zvi Stern: {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Jean-Noel Thorel: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The {8-Diamonds} on the turn gave Thorel a flush draw he didn't even need, and the {Q-Hearts} completed the board. With just ace high really, Thorel took down the huge pot.

Buddiga Busts In Flip

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Pratyush Buddiga
Pratyush Buddiga

After an open raise, Adrien Allain three-bet to 17,000 in the cutoff and before Pratyush Buddiga then four-bet from the button for a total of 93,000. Only Allain made the call and it was a big flip.

Buddiga: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Allain: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The board {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades} gave Allain a full house and Buddiga the way out of the tournament area.

Thorel Doesn't Like Folding

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel defended his big blind to a raise of Scott Margereson and check-called the flop {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for 11,000. On the {J-Spades} turn, Thorel once again checked and called a second barrel worth 29,500 before doing so again on the {Q-Spades} river for 20,000. The Frenchman turned over {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} for a pair of sevens and busted straight draw, Margereson claimed the pot with {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

Two "Bad Beat" Stories

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Namir Mohamed, Michail Karapanos, Miltiadis Kyriakides and Nick Abou Risk have been eliminated. The latter had previously doubled up his short stack and then got it in with {A-}{Q-} versus the {A-}{J-} of Nick Petrangelo. A queen and jack hit the flop before another jack on the turn sent Abou Risk out of the door.

Kyriakides got into a raising war with Simen Birkelund and they saw a queen-high flop. Birkelund had flopped a set of queens while Kyriakides' pocket aces were now worthless.

Hunter Doubles Up

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

With Ian Hunter very short in the big blind, Scott Margereson took the decision to push all-in from the small blind. Unfortunately for him Hunter had a hand that could call.

Margereson had been trying to make a move holding {8-}{4-}, whilst Hunter had called with {a-}{7-}. The board was {3-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and Hunter doubled up in the last hand before the break
