Zhang Doubles Montury and Colautti

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Jean Montury
Jean Montury

Chi Zhang lost two all-ins in a row. First, he put Jean Montury to the test by putting him all in. The former EPT Malta Champion made the call and was in great shape to double up.

Chi Zhang: {4-Clubs}{4-Hearts}
Jean Montury: {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Montury even improved to a set on the {3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Spades} flop and it was all over with the {3-Clubs} on the turn. The {8-Spades} river didn't matter anymore and Montury doubled up.

"Malta power!", said Montury as he pointed to the symbol of Malta tattooed on his arm. Montury won here two seasons ago and is still in contention to repeat that achievement.

Zhang lost some more a couple of hands later. This time he shoved all in on the {4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop and got called by Daniele Colautti. The Italian was all in for 46,000 and had {10-Spades}{8-Clubs} for top pair.

Zhang tabled {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and needed help but the {4-Diamonds} turn and {6-Diamonds} river didn't provide any.

Aleksandar Spadijer: {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}
Nicolino Di Carlo: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}
Dan Shak: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and the full house of Shak sent two players to the rail.

Groppi Loses Flip to Valle

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

On a table with the big stacks Ismael Bojang, Guillaume Diaz and Guillaume Valle, [Removed:215] had the shortest stack and faced the open-raise of Valle. Groppi then shoved for around 80,000 from two seats over in the cutoff and action folded back to Valle, who quickly called.

[Removed:215]: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Guillaume Valle: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The {J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop immediately paired up Valle and Groppi was deading dead on the {8-Hearts} turn, making the {6-Clubs} river a formality.

Macnamara Puts Pollak To The Test

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

In a blind-versus-blind confrontation, the pot had already swollen in size when Tomas Macnamara bet 62,000 on a {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} board. Pollak called the bet in the big blind.

On the {7-Hearts} river, Macnamara moved all in for 201,000. Pollak had 185,000 behind, making this a decision for his tournament life. The Frenchman spent over five minutes in the tank, agonizing over his decision. At times, he glanced over at Macnamara, who didn't flinch.

Pollak eventually elected to let it slide, letting his right-hand neighbor scoop up the pot.

Bartolini Bests Hulyk

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Over on the feature table, Darya Hulyk raised from under the gun and then called the shove of Marco Bartolini for just over 12 big blinds out of the big blind.

Marco Bartolini: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Darya Hulyk: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

On the {Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, nothing changed, but Hulyk picked up a gutshot and flush draw on the {10-Clubs} turn. However, the {Q-Hearts} on the river was a blank and Bartolini doubled.

Ortynskiy Doubles Twice

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Over at the feature table, Viatcheslav Ortynskiy found two doubles in quick succession to give him some breathing space. Down to just 29,500, Ortynskiy found {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} and moved it. He got a call from Frederik Jensen with {6-Spades}{4-Spades} and won on a {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} board.

A couple of hands later, Xixiang Luo raised to 11,000 and Ortynskiy shoved for 56,000. Luo didn't like it, but called it off after some thought. Ortynskiy held {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and doubled again on {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The Rich Gets Richer; Guillaume Valle Busts Tomasz Panek

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Guillaume Valle
Guillaume Valle

We might have a new chipleader at Portomaso Casino, as Guillaume Valle is now pushing the 600k-mark with the latest bustout of Tomasz Panek.

From the cutoff Panek shipped his remaining 52,000, and after a few folds, the action was on Guillaume Valle in the big blind. He didn't waste much time before throwing in a single blue T-5,000 chip, indicating a call, but Valle's {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} needed a bit of help against the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} of Panek.

Panek's fate was close to sealed already with the door card being {K-Spades}, and when no queens appeared and the board ran out {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {A-Clubs}, the Polish player had to accept a 54th place and a payout of €9,960.

Alessandro Longobardi: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
