"Disaster" for Katz

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

On the turn of {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}, Panagiotis Sotiriadis bet 18,500 into a pot of 30,000 and Cary Katz called. The {6-Clubs} fell on the river and Sotiriadis bet 40,000, which Katz called.

Sotiriadis rolled over {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for a full house and Katz sighed "disaster, I had a straight." In table chat he later mentioned to have had {K-}{K-}{7-}{3-}.

More for Dowling and Tsang

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Chris Downling bet 60,000 out of the big blind with the turn showing {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Spades} and Laszlo Bujtas called on the button. The {7-Diamonds} fell on the river and Dowling bet 100,000. Bujtas had fewer chips than that behind and folded.

Over on table three, Felix Stephensen, Cord Garcia and Anson Tsang invested 15,000 each. They checked it down until the {Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{J-Hearts} turn and action checked to Garcia on the {2-Spades} river. He bet 25,000 and Tsang was the only caller. Garcia mucked and Tsang claimed the pot without having to show his cards.

Petersen Doubles Bujtas; Busts Katz

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

In the last hand of the previous level, Alexander Petersen hit bottom two pair with the {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{X-Spades} on the {K-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop and had Laszlo Bujtas all in and at risk. Bujtas had {Q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for middle set and the {9-Hearts} turn and {3-Clubs} river brought no miracle.

As soon as the blinds went up, Petersen min-raised to 12,000 and Katz got his remaining few chips in, Petersen snap-called.

Cary Katz: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Alexander Petersen: {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades}

"Oh my god, that's horrible," Katz said as soon as he saw the cards of Petersen. He found no help on a board of {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and joined the rail in the final level of Day 1.

Bujtas Scores Big Double Through Sotiriadis

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Laszlo Bujtas
Laszlo Bujtas

Laszlo Bujtas made it 14,000 to go on the button and Panagiotis Sotiriadis three-bet out of the small blind to 50,000. Bujtas four-bet the pot to 150,000 and Sotiriadis eventually called. Bujtas made sure that he was not all in yet and they headed to a flop of {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}{5-Diamonds}.

Sotiriadis checked and Bujtas moved all in, which sent the Greek into the think tank as he asked for a count. The jam for Bujtas was for 49,500 and Sotiriadis called after more than three minutes of consideration.

Laszlo Bujtas: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Panagiotis Sotiriadis: {J-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The {10-Diamonds} turn locked up the double, the {3-Spades} river was a formality.
