€1,100 French National Championship

Day 1b Started

Day 1b of the €1,100 French National Championship Kicks Off at Noon!

Welcome back to Monte-Carlo
Welcome back to Monte-Carlo

At 12 p.m. local time, the 2019 PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino European Poker Tour will once again see poker enthusiasts from near and far head over to the Monte-Carlo Sporting right at the French Riviera and take their seats in the Salle des Etoiles for Day 1b of the €1,100 French National Championship.

The mid-stakes highlight of the festival, formerly known as the France Poker Series and EPT National, is off to a solid start after yesterday's first flight attracted a field of 353 entries and played down to the top 15% before bagging and tagging. For all those that wish to take over the overall lead for Day 2, more than 20 times the starting stack of 30,000 are required as Baptiste Carteau managed just that by bagging up 607,000 last night.

All those hopefuls that entered and left without anything to show for on Day 1a can take another two shots today, as Day 1b kicks off at noon and the final flight provides the last opportunity to run up a stack as of 6 p.m. local time. Each participant receives 30,000 in chips and the registration is open for the first eight 40-minute levels until approximately 6 p.m. local time.

Among those already confirmed to take part is $25,000 PokerStars NL Hold'em Players Championship winner and PokerStars ambassador Ramon "Mr__Boxes" Colillas, who kicked off the current year with a bang on the Bahamas by turning a CEP leaderboard prize into a payday of $5.1 million. Back in January, Colillas defeated Julien Martini in heads-up, and the Frenchman has bagged up the third-biggest stack here in Monte-Carlo on Day 1a already.

As usual, the new and popular big blind ante format will be used for this tournament and all players that run out of chips can re-enter into the final flight later today in order to battle once more for the expected seven-figure prize pool. Among them will be defending champion Guillaume Diaz, who jumped in late the previous evening and didn't advance to Day 2 just yet.

Lean back and enjoy the show with the PokerNews live updates from the floor, as a bumper field is expected in Monte-Carlo.

Odor Takes From Aloev

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Asker Aloev was the initial raiser and picked up a call by Karoly Odor out of the blinds. On a {j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop, Odor bet 200 and Aloev raised to 600, which odor called. The {a-Clubs} fell on the turn and Odor check-called a bet of 1,000 before doing so again for 1,800 on the {2-Diamonds} river. Aloev turned over the {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Odor had that beat with {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} for aces and jacks.

Toma Takes From Raphael

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

EPT regular Tsugunari Toma has been able to build a profit early on after a clash with Guillaume Raphael. On a three-way flop of {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Toma bet 600 and Raphael check-raised out of the big blind to 2,000. Only Toma came along and Raphael bet the {7-Hearts} turn for 2,300.

Toma had other plans in mind and raised to 5,000, the call of Raphael followed. On the {j-Clubs} river, Raphael checked and folded to a bet of 7,000.

Closing in On 400 Entries

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

More than mid-way through Day 1b, the field size of the first flight has already been surpassed with up to 387 entries and all but one table in the Salle Des Etoiles is in use right now. There are still empty seats everywhere as the tournament is kicking into gear, and several notables have entered or taken another shot.

Andreas Vlachos was not spotted in the 1a field, but the Greek is in action on 1b and just scooped a pot without showdown by betting for the size of the pot on the {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Clubs} turn for 3,800. His sole remaining opponent folded and Vlachos raked in the pot.
