Mohamud Nears Six Figures

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

After being as low as 3,000 in chips, Mohamed Barre Mohamud found action upon him in the big blind facing a middle-position open to 8,500. He three-bet all in and the opener asked for a count, which was totaled to 45,000. A call was then made and hands were tabled.

Mohamed Barre Mohamud: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Mohamud had his opponent dominated and was primed for a double, which he was able to do as the runout came {5-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}, leaving him with a wheel and the best hand to bring him just shy of 100,000 in chips nearing what should be the final break of the night.

Burneikis Back From the Brink

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Vladas Burneikis appears to have lost a massive pot before the break as Jose Quintas suddenly emerged near the top of the leaderboard.

Burneikis got the last few big blinds in with the {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Ondrej Jakubcik called with the {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. The board came {6-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and the Lithuanian doubled.

Shortly after, Emil Von Buchwold opened to 11,000 and Burneikis jammed for 48,000, which Von Buchwold reluctantly called.

Vladas Burneikis: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}
Emil Von Buchwold: {j-Spades}{9-Spades}

On a board of {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}, ace-eight was good enough for another double.

In the meanwhile, Martin Richter and Josef Snejberg both busted on different tables and there are just 108 hopefuls in contention.

Pecheux Eliminates Jozonis

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Erwann Pecheux
Erwann Pecheux

There was around 75,000 in the middle on the river with the board reading {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Tomas Jozonis had a bet of 20,000 in front of him from the hijack. Action was on Erwann Pecheux, who was on the button and didn't take long before announcing he was all in, effectively putting Jozonis to a decision for the last 65,000 or so behind him. After close to a minute, he dropped in chips to call.

Tomas Jozonis: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Erwann Pecheux: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Jozonis had called off the last of his chips with a full house, fours full of sixes, and found it to be no good versus Pecheux's fours full of eights, resulting in his elimination from the tournament as 108 players now remain and only 14 more eliminations are needed for play to finish for the evening.

Jaruing Doubles After Flopping Top Pair

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

A player in middle position opened to 12,000 and action made its way around to Tomas Jauring, who defended his big blind. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and Jauring went all in.

His opponent asked for a count and his stack was cut out to total 44,000. Thirty seconds later, he received a call and the hands were tabled.

Tomas Jauring: {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Middle Position: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Jauring's top pair was out in front of his opponent's second pair and gutshot straight draw and he needed two clean cards to stay alive. The turn {2-Diamonds} and river {2-Hearts} did just that, giving him queens up and scoring him the double.

Desset Takes a Small Hit

Level 16 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Andrej Desset was one of many players to enter late and has put on a mighty rush to get close to the top spot late on Day 1a. There was just a minor speed bump right now. Michael Kramer doubled through him for around 10 big blinds as the Dutchman hit the second nuts with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} on a {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} board, Desset's cards were mucked already.
