Locatelli Wins at Showdown

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

There was around 4,700 in the pot from preflop action on a board of {9-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades} with heads-up action between the big blind and Raffaello Locatelli, who was in early position. The big blind checked and Locatelli thought for a few moments before checking behind.

The turn was {9-Clubs} and the big blind put out a bet of 1,200. Locatelli called. The river fell {3-Clubs} and both players checked to take the hand to showdown.

The big blind showed {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for an ace kicker to the board's pair of nines and Locatelli tabled {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for two pair, nines and fives, good to earn him the pot.

Nines Up Good for Laasonen

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

A player raised to 600 from under the gun and received a call from a player in the middle position. Timo Laasonen also called from the cutoff, as did the players on the button and in the big blind to take action five ways to the streets.

The dealer fanned a flop of {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and the big blind checked. The under-the-gun opener made a continuation-bet for another 600 and everybody but the player on the button called.

All four players then checked the turn {3-Hearts} to bring the river {2-Hearts}. Action checked to Laasonen and he tossed out a bet of 2,200. The big blind thought for a few moments and proceeded to call, prompting two quick folds from the remaining players left to act.

The dealer announced a showdown and looked to Laasonen to table his hand. Laasonen, in turn, looked to the big blind in the hopes that he would show first. The big blind looked back at Laasonen, indicating he would not comply, and Laasonen tabled {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for two pair, nines and threes. It proved to be good for the pot as the big blind sent his cards to the muck and the pot was sent Laasonen's way.

"Too Much for Me"

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

The hijack opened to 700 and was called by Christos Stamatakis, who was on the button. The small blind also came along and the three saw a flop of {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. The small blind checked to the hijack, who made a continuation-bet of 1,200. Stamatakis called and the small blind folded, bringing action heads up to the turn {10-Hearts}.

The hijack checked to Stamatakis, who bet 2,000. The hijack then asked to confirm and exhaled audibly after receiving an affirmative answer.

"Too much for me," said the hijack. "Too much." He then called.

The river came {2-Spades} and the hijack checked again. Stamatakis put out another bet of 2,000.

"No!" said the hijack, folding {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} face up to earn the pot for Stamatakis without a showdown.
