Get ready to start at noon local time as Day 1b of the €1,100 EPT National at the 2019 European Poker Tour Prague is set to take off. The second of three starting flights in the Hilton Prague will feature 40-minute levels throughout the day to give players another shot at making it into Day 2 and the money stage. Tonight, at 7 p.m. local time is Day 1c which is a turbo edition as level duration will be slashed to 20.

The 2018 edition of Day 1 a the EPT National collected 671 players, this year it attracted 624 entries with 94 players making it through to Day 2 on Monday, December 9. Leading the pack right now is Andrew Hulme 551,000 in chips. Hulme is followed by Andrej Desset, Alexis Rozenblat, Narcis Nedelcu, and Danilo Velasevic.

Day 1b is traditionally the busiest day of all and last year a whopping 1,200 players coughed up the €1,100 buy-in. Who knows what this year will bring? Well-known players like Pascal Hartmann, Julien Martini, Pete Chen, Pierre Calamusa, Jason Gray, Tomas Jozonis, Josef Snejberg, Georgios Vrakas, Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy, Viet Vo, David Hu, Martin Staszko, and many more couldn’t hold on to their chips to put in a bag on Day 1a. They are expected to jump in again.

A starting stack is worth 30,000 in chips. A 20-minute break has been scheduled after every three levels with a 75-minute dinner break after Level 9. Players can register until the start of Level 9 and play will continue until there’s 15% of the field left. Players need to make Day 2 to be in the money. If players fail to make it through Day 1b, they can fire once more in Day 1c until the late registration time there closes.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be roaming the floor to bring you all the latest updates so keep following along to see who else will be making it to Day 2.

Martini Doubles Up

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Julien Martini
Julien Martini

Julien Martini had doubled up earlier today and was kind enough to relay what had happened during the 100/100 level:

The middle position had opened, Steven Houghland in the cutoff three-bet to 800 and Martini was the only one to make the call on the button with {k-Spades}{j-Spades}. Houghland held {7-Spades}{5-Spades}.

The flop came {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Spades}, Houghland continued with a bet of 3,000 which Martini called.

The turn was the {3-Clubs} and Martini called another bet of 8,000.

The river completed the board with the {2-Diamonds}, Martini now shoved for 15,000 when Houghland checked and got paid with the nut flush.

Jean-René Fontaine
Jean-René Fontaine

Four players invested 500 chips each to see the {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop on which Youssaffi Khalil in the small blind, Giuseppe Carbone in early position and Alexander Orlov all checked. Jean-René Fontaine bet 1,600 and Khalil was the only caller.

After the {5-Diamonds} turn, Khalil checked once more and Fontaine bet 3,300 to force a fold.

"You are a chip machine," Carbone said to Fontaine who dragged in the pot and boosted his stack. Fontaine mentioned in table chat he had ace-king.

Uri Reichenstein

Sebastian Malec and Uri Reichenstein, who had the epic heads-up duel for the EPT Barcelona Main Event title, have been seated next to each other and Reichenstein just lost a big pot to Marian Stancescu.

Reichenstein three-bet to 2,400 and then bet throughout the {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{a-Hearts} board. First, it was for 2,000, followed by 6,500 and he then moved all-in on the river. Stancescu called all-in for 18,200 and Reichenstein tabled the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for a full house, but Stancescu had the best of it with {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Losev Wins Incredible Showdown

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Alexey Losev
Alexey Losev

The cards were on their backs and several players could all but smile, also took out their smartphones to take a picture of what had just happened. One of them said "it was four-bet preflop and all-in after the flop" as Ricardo Da Rocha seemed poised to score a double knockout.

A shorter stacked Urmo Velvelt was involved but Alexey Losev was the one to make the headlines eventually.

The flop showed {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades} and the following cards were turned over.

Alexey Losev: {5-Spades}{2-Spades}
Urmo Velvelt: {4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Ricardo Da Rocha: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

Losev spiked the {3-Spades} turn and {4-Spades} river run out to hit a straight flush and Velvelt hit the rail as he was covered by Losev, while Da Rocha was left with a chip and a chair.

"Very good dealer," Losev admitted.

Markku Koplimaa was eliminated on Day 1a and suffered the same fate on Day 1b as well, which leaves just the turbo heat 1c for a chance to secure a stack for Day 1 and a second €1,100 EPT National title.
