Alex Kulev
Alex Kulev

The first event of the long-awaited PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague enters Day 2 today at 12:30 p.m. local time at the King’s Casino here in the heart of Prague.

Alex Kulev, the Dublin-based Bulgarian poker pro, leads the field of 25 remaining by some distance after a successful Day 1 sees him bring a nice stack of 604,000 into Day 2, which is good for 121 big blinds to start the day.

Timothy Adams of Canada starts the day second in chips with 452,000, Niklas Astedt of Sweden (389,000), Lithuanian Audrius Skakelis (375,000) and Bulgarian Ognyan Dimov (371,000) round out the top five stacks at the start of Day 2. In total, players from nine different countries make up the top ten stacks, with even more represented throughout the remaining 25 players.

Day 2 will begin at Level 11 with blinds at 2,500/5,000 and a big blind ate of 5,000. Day 1 drew 56 total entries and 25 made it to Day 2. But late registration is still open until the start of play, so it is likely that there will be a few more entries who jump in with the 20 big blind stack to take a shot at Day 2 to further increase the current prizepool of €543,200 as well as the €5,000 for each bounty collected by each player.

Each level on Day 2 will be 30-minutes in length and the plan is to play all the way down to a winner as PokerNews will have all the action as the first winner is crowned in this kick-off event in Prague.

Alexandros Theologis
Alexandros Theologis

Conor Beresford waited for a spot to get his short stack in and did so from under the gun. The action folded all the way to Andras Nemeth in the small blind and he jammed to isolate for the bounty. Alexandros Theologis gave it some thought and called all-in from the big blind.

Conor Beresford: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Andras Nemeth: {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Alexandros Theologis: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Beresford was eliminated. Theologis not only collected the Brit's bounty but also doubled through Nemeth for 190,000.

Daewoong Song opened the action with a raise to 16,000 and then faced the shove for 96,000 by Pedro Garagnani from one seat over, which he instantly called.

Pedro Garagnani: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Daewoong Song: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Sirzat Hissou
Sirzat Hissou

Sirzat Hissou raised it up to 22,000 and Teun Mulder then clicked it up to 57,000 from the very next seat. Hissou gave it some thought and opted to shove for what appeared to be around 175,000, picking up an instant call by Mulder.

Sirzat Hissou: {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Teun Mulder: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} flop left Hissou in dire shape and he was in need of running cards. One of them appeared on the {j-Clubs} turn but the miracle never happened after the {q-Hearts} river followed to seal his fate.

Yuri Dzivielevski
Yuri Dzivielevski

From the hijack Sam Grafton raised to 20,000. Yuri Dzivielevski three-bet to about 70,000 from the small blind. Grafton four-bet jammed all in and Dzivielevski snap-called.

It was close to a coin flip as Grafton had the {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} looking to take out the {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} of Dzivielevski.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Spades} for not much help to the ace-king. The turn was the {2-Hearts} and the river came the {6-Diamonds} to end the day for the Brazilian as Grafton took in more to his growing stack.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Both players checked to the turn which was the {j-Spades}. Seiji bet 60,000 and Grafton called.

The river was the {10-Clubs}. Seiji took a time extension before jamming all in. Grafton snap-called and turned over his hand in an instant showing the {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for the rivered straight. Seiji stood up and shook his head as his {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} low end of the straight was beaten and he was eliminated nearing the money bubble.

Zhong Chen: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Gab Yong Kim: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Chen had the lead as the flop came {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} to pair the ace and leave Kim hoping for a queen. The turn was the {k-Spades} to pair Kim's king and the river was another one the {k-Hearts} to give him runner-runner trips and eliminate Chen as the first victim in the money.

Alexandros Theologis

Gab Yong Kim made it 100,000 to go and Alexandros Theologis pushed all-in for the last 160,000 he had behind. Niklas Astedt seemed interested but opted to fold while Kim obviously called without any hesitation whatsoever.

Both players revealed one card after the other with a grin on the face.

Alexandros Theologis: {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Gab Yong Kim: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

Kim whiffed the {j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop and the {3-Diamonds} turn. "King?!" he inquired and sure enough, the {k-Spades} fell on the river to knock out Theologis in 6th place for €13,660.

Gab Yong Kim Eliminated in 6th Place (€17,150)

Level 21 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Gab Yong Kim
Gab Yong Kim

Niklas Astedt raised to 100,000 on the button and was called by Sam Grafton. Gab Yong Kim had paid one third of his tiny stack through the big blind ante already and joked "I just call", leaving himself with exactly one T-5,000 chip behind. Grafton and Kim checked the {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop and Astedt bet 100,000, picking up a call from Grafton.

Kim smiled and was about to grab his time bank extensions but then called it off. On the {5-Diamonds} turn, Grafton check-called for 325,000 and did so again for 450,000 on the {8-Clubs} river, rolling over the {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a straight. Kim exposed his {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Astedt nodded. "You win," he said and sent the cards into the muck.

Kim collected €17,150 in cash along with the bounties he had previously earned.
