Day 3 Needed as Six Players Remain in €2,200 Eureka High Roller

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Manuel Gonzalez
Manuel Gonzalez

After almost 16 hours of play Thursday, a winner of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague €2,200 Eureka High Roller has yet to be decided.

The day began with 181 players and got down to six before tournament staff ended the day and instructed the remaining players that they would complete the tournament Friday at 12:30 CET.

With eight players left, options were presented to the players, but a consensus could not be reached, so staff decided on the Friday restart.

Spain’s Manuel Gonzalez (17,525,000) will take the chip lead into Day 3. He’ll be closely followed by Pedro Marques of Portugal (12,000,000), while the rest of the field, including Romain Lewis (425,000), who survived the last three levels with as little as one big blind, will be on very short stacks and looking to climb up the payout ladder.

Gonzalez was a severe short stack with 16 players left, but the two-table redraw seemed to spark a heater for the Spaniard as he quickly doubled up twice and never looked back.

The final six are each guaranteed at least €69,930, but they’ll still have their eyes on the €396,450 top prize. Others making the final table that won’t see day 3 include John Mooney (7th place - €53,060), Gilles Gauyacq (8th place - €37, 880), and Benjamin Beekhuis (9th place - €29,470)

Play will resume with 18:31 left in level 35 at blinds of 200,000 / 400,000 / 400,000 big blind ante.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for the thrilling conclusion to this event and all the action from the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague at the King’s Casino at the Hilton Prague.

John Mooney
John Mooney

Pedro Marques raised to 800,000 under the gun, John Mooney said "let's gamble" and put in his last 600,000 in the cutoff, and Romain Lewis called in the big blind.

Lewis and Marques checked down the {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} board and the hands were then revealed.

John Mooney: {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Romain Lewis: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}
Pedro Marques: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

Marques' two pair, queens and sevens earned the pot, eliminating Mooney and leaving Lewis short again.

Gilles Gauyacq

Gilles Gauyacq moved all in preflop and was called by Ermanno Di Nicola.

Gauyacq was at risk with the {a-Spades}{9-Hearts} against the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} of Di Nicola.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} to pair Gauyacq and send him into the lead. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and the river was the {5-Diamonds} to give Di Nicola the winning flush which Gauyacq did not initially realize as he pumped his fist as if he had won the hand, but quickly saw the diamonds and headed to the payout desk.

Level 34 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Romain Lewis
Romain Lewis

Romain Lewis is hanging around thanks to some good fortune since he lost his blind versus blind battle with Pedro Marques.

Lewis moved all-in for his last 400,000 in the big blind versus Ermanno Di Nicola and Manuel Gonzalez's blinds with his ace-high actually holding against both his opponents' queen-highs. In the following hand in the big blind, action folded to Gonzalez who gave Lewis a walk.

Lewis is now grinding away with almost six big blinds.

"You Bluff Me, Huh?

Level 33 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Manuel Gonzalez
Manuel Gonzalez

Manuel Gonzalez raised under the gun to 500,000 and received a call from Ermanno Di Nicola in the big blind.

The duo saw a flop of {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and both checked.

That wouldn't be the case on the {6-Spades} turn however, as after Di Nicola checked again, and Gonzalez overbet jammed all-in for a little under 4,000,000 effective.

Di Nicola went deep into the tank, at one point suggesting to Gonzalez, "you bluff me, huh?"

Gonzalez remained stoic and finally, after a couple more minutes, Di Nicola folded his cards.

"Semi-bluff" said Gonzalez, as he raked in chips that moved his stack over the 10,000,000 mark.

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 250,000 ante
Benjamin Beekhuis
Benjamin Beekhuis

Benjamin Beekhuis ripped all in from the button. Manuel Gonzalez called from the big blind.

Benjamin Beekhuis: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}
Manuel Gonzalez: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The flop came {3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} to dampen Beekhuis's chances more with the hearts of Gonzalez. The turn was the {j-Clubs} to spell the end for Beekhuis as the {4-Spades} came inconsequentially on the river and he was gone as the official final table bubble boy.

Jacobo Montoya
Jacobo Montoya

Jacobo Montoya was down to one big blind and was all in prelfop. Ermanno Di Nicola was in the small blind and the cards were turned over.

Montoya actually had a good chance to double as he held the {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds} up against the {a-Clubs}{3-Hearts} of Di Nicola.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} the turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the river was the {4-Clubs} to bring in the wheel for Di Nicola and deny Montoya a chance at a miraculous spin up.

Alexis Nicolai Eliminated in 12th Place (€21,950)

Level 32 : 100,000/200,000, 250,000 ante
Alexis Nicolai
Alexis Nicolai

Jacobo Montoya limped for 200,000 in the cutoff, leaving himself 30,000 behind. That would prove to be a very wise and profitable decision, because Alexis Nicolai moved all-in on the button for a little over 2,000,000 and Thomas Lhomme moved in over top for more.

Lhomme then turned over his hand {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}, not realizing Jacobo was still in the hand.

Jacobo couldn't believe his situation, but folded, and left himself the 30,000 in hopes that Nicolai would be eliminated, giving him a pay jump. Nicolai's hand was then revealed,

Alexis Nicolai: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Thomas Lhomme: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The board came {2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Hearts} and indeed Nicolai was eliminated, while Jacobo's 30,000 behind earned him that pay jump.

Sebastian Juhlen Eliminated in 13th Place (€21,950)

Level 31 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Sebastian Juhlen
Sebastian Juhlen

After losing a pot that left him short-stacked, Sebastian Juhlen moved all-in from the cutoff for his last 550,000, Thomas Lhomme moved in behind on the button for 1,600,000, and Jacobo Montoya woke up with a hand in the big blind and called with more to put both players at risk.

Sebastian Juhlen: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}
Thomas Lhomme: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Jacobo Montoya: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The dealer spread a flop of {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} to give some help to Juhlen, pairing his eight, but the {6-Hearts} on the turn and the {7-Spades} on the river brought no further help and he was eliminated.

Meanwhile, Lhomme's kings ended up earning a near triple-up, and Montoya was left with the short stack.
