The first flight of the £1,100 UKIPT Main Event at the PokerStars European Poker Tour London in the Hilton Park Lane hotel has come to an end for the day after close to 14 hours of play.

The flight attracted 344 total entries and played down to 52 before the remaining players bagged up their chips to advance to Day 2.

Leading the way of the remaining players was David Gassian who bagged up 577,000. He was spotted with a large stack in the middle part of the day before he slumped back down in the pack before a late-night surge propelled him to the chip lead as the night ended.

Clipping Gassian’s heels in second place was French player Julien Sitbon who ended the night with 560,000 after having the lead for most of the night after dinner break before Gassian’s surge.

Robin Scheidegger (465,000), Nicola D’Anselmo (398,000) and Alex Peffly (396,000) rounded out the top five chip counts.

None other than PokerStars team pro Benjamin Spragg had a nice Day 1a as he collected a healthy stack of 300,000, which ended up being the ninth largest in the flight.

Among others to advance were, Victoria Livschitz (223,000), Antoine Labat (118,000) and Henrik Hecklen who barely slipped into the money with a short stack of 35,000.

The money bubble was breached early in Level 17 as John Eames became the bubble boy when his pocket nines were out-flopped. Eames will have to join Landon Tice, Kayhan Mokri and Barny Boatman as a few of the players who will need to enter again in order to advance to Day 2 after their Day 1a attempt was unsuccessful.

PokerNews will be back on the felt tomorrow for Day 1c at noon local time here in London as this exciting opening event will roll on.

Robin Scheidegger

Lander Lijo was put to a decision for his tournament life by Robin Scheidegger, who bet enough on the river of the {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Hearts} runout to put Lijo all in.

After considering that decision for a couple of minutes, Bereciartua made the call and saw the bad news. Scheidegger flipped over {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} for a straight, and Lijo showed a {k-} as he mucked his hand and left the table.

Alex Peffly
Alex Peffly

Action came in on the river as the board read {6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. The pot had about 38,000 in the middle.

From early position, Jack Sinclair jammed all in for about 16,000. Alex Peffly was in the big blind and had to think about it for a long time before he called.

Sinclair tabled the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, which Peffly had pipped with the {a-Spades}{k-Hearts} for the superior ace-high as Sinclair was busted and walked away.

Jordon and Harry Exchange Stacks

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Terry Jordon
Terry Jordon

Ulysse Harry raised from under the gun to 1,600 and found three callers before Terry Jordon raised to 6,600 from the small blind. Harry called while the other players folded, leaving the hand heads up.

Jordon continued for 5,100 after the {j-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, and Harry took a moment before making the call. Jordon then moved all in for his last 3,000 after the {4-Clubs} turn, with Harry tossing in the call. The river {k-Spades} hit before Jordon revealed {q-Spades}{8-Spades} for the double up.

But on the very next hand, the two were heads up again after the {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop. Jordon led out for 16,000 and Harry called to see the {q-Clubs} turn. Jordon announced a bet of 20,100 before calling Harry's all in.

Terry Jordon: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Ulysse Harry: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Both players hit top pair on the turn, but Harry was ahead with his ace kicked. The river {3-Hearts} changed nothing, and Harry quickly recovered his lost chips while Jordon was preparing to reenter.

The action repeated on the {q-Hearts} turn, with Samson firing 2.500 to the {a-Diamonds} river. Beckford checked one last time, and called instantly as Samson committed the rest of his short stack.

Beckford turned over {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the nut flush, and Samson could only muck his hand.
