Pilhofer Gets Zapatero to Fold Aces

Level 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Javier Gomez Zapatero {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} opened to 55,000 in early position. Only one player called, Istvan Pilhofer {7-Spades}{5-Spades} in the big blind.

The flop came out {4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Laszlo check-called a bet of 40,000 from Zapatero and his aces.

The turn was an interesting one, the {7-Clubs}, giving Pilhofer a better two pair than he had, but still behind Zapatero. He checked. Zapatero continued with a bet of 195,000. Pilhofer check-raised to 580,000.

Zapatero didn't think too long before folding his aces and Pilhofer got away with taking the pot.

Henri Juutilainen Eliminated in 25th Place (€26,400)

Level 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Henri Juutilainen
Henri Juutilainen

Luigi D'Alterio opened to 50,000 in early position and Henri Juutilainen ripped all in for 315,000 from the small blind. D'alterio asked for a count and eventually called it off to put Juutilainen at risk.

Henri Juutilainen: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Luigi D'Alterio: {a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The flop of {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} left Juutilainen in a dominating position as he hoped to survive elimination once more. However, the {9-Hearts} on the turn gave D'Alterio the three-outer he was looking for. The {j-Diamonds} on the river changed nothing and Juutilainen was eliminated, bringing the field down to three tables.

Two Small Pots for Bigot

Level 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Fabrice Bigot raised to 60,000 and table short stack Vitezslav Cech defended the big blind. The flop brought {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Cech knuckled the table with some ten blinds behind. Bigot bet 25,000 and the fold by Cech folded.

In the next hand, Bigot made it 55,000 to go and Petar Kalev came along from the big blind. On a flop of {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, both players checked and Kalev then check-folded the {k-Clubs} on the turn when facing a delayed continuation bet by Bigot.

Small Pots on Table Two

Level 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

The action on table two has slowed down a lot with several short stacks fighting for their survival. Rui Milhomens slipped down to the danger zone along with Milan Simko and Paul-Adrian Covaciu while Laurent Cessy chipped up.

In the latest hand, Jordan Saccucci raised to 55,000 and Milhomens defended the big blind. Both checked the {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop and the Portuguese check-called the {q-Spades} turn. Sacucci bet 55,000 and Milhomens called. After the {a-Diamonds} river, Milhomens checked and folded to a bet.

Covaciu and Simko jammed a few times the last few orbits but none of the moves was called.

Pilhofer Doubles Through Beresford

Level 23 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Istvan Pilhofer
Istvan Pilhofer

Istvan Pilhofer {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} opened to 50,000 from early position. Action folded to Conor Beresford {a-Spades}{4-Spades} in the small blind. He moved all in for 955,000 effective in Pilhofer's stack.

Pilhofer went into the tank while considering calling for his tournament life, and that's what he did to head to a runout.

Beresford couldn't get the fold, and saw Pilhofer hit a set on the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades}. The turn did make it sweaty when the {q-Spades} hit, giving Beresford a flush draw. The river paired the board, though, on the {7-Hearts} river, and Pilhofer scored the big double.

The turn was the {j-Clubs} and both players checked to the {8-Diamonds} on the river. Vaitiekunas led out with a bet of 105,000 and Shornikau snapped him off. Vaitiekunas turned over {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for top pair which proved to be the best hand.

Fabrice Amaury Bigot Castagnet Parker Talbot
Fabrice Amaury Bigot Castagnet Parker Talbot

Parker Talbot opened to 50,000 from early position and the action folded around to Fabrice Bigot in the big blind who made the call.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Bigot checked to Talbot who fired out 40,000. Bigot thought about his decision for thirty seconds before opting to check-raise to 140,000 and Talbot folded.

A few hands later the pair tangled in a blind versus blind battle in which Bigot check-called a 100,000 river bet from Talbot on {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and showed {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} for king high only Talbot wasn't bluffing and showed {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to take down the pot.

Simon Mattsson {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs} opened to 50,000 from under the gun. Action folded to Conor Beresford {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} in the big blind who made the call.

Beresford saw a very good {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for the flopped flush, and he checked to Mattsson. Mattsson continued for 25,000. With his baby flush, Beresford check-raised to 85,000. Mattsson made the fold.
