Mattsson's Threes Hold Against Addamo

Level 12 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Simon Mattsson shipped it all in preflop for 55,000 and was quickly called off by Michael Addamo who tabled {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Mattsson turned over his hand of {3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the race was on, with Mattsson at risk.

The board ran out {k-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{q-Clubs}{k-Spades} which meant Mattsson's pocket threes held for him to score a big double off of the chip leader.

Phua Eliminates Kanit

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Paul Phua
Paul Phua

Mustapha Kanit ripped it all in for his last 52,000 from middle position and Paul Phua called from the small blind.

Mustapha Kanit: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Paul Phua: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

While Phua was well ahead of Kanit, the {4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Spades} created a big sweat over the 116,000 chips in the middle and Kanit's tournament life.

The {10-Clubs} prevented a board straight while the {q-Diamonds} river gave Phua a set of queens and eliminated Kanit.

Phua Defeats Garagnani in Blind-on-Blind Battle

Level 11 : Blinds 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

With 70,000 in the middle on a {3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} board, Pedro Garagnani checked over to Paul Phua, who put in a bet of 40,000. Garagnani took his time before making the call.

The {4-Spades} river, which completed a backdoor spade draw, was enough to slow both players down as each tapped the table.

Garagnani showed {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} but it was no good as Phua threw down {a-Hearts}{8-Spades} for the win.

Andersson Spikes River to Eliminate Navarro

Level 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

On a heads-up board of {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, hijack Juan Pablo Navarro check-raised to 25,000 after a bet from Sven Andersson for 10,000.

Andersson called and the two went to the turn {2-Clubs}. Navarro then shoved all in and Andersson quickly called, putting Navarro at risk.

Juan Pablo Navarro: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Sven Andersson: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}

Navarro's top set of queens was way ahead of Andersson's aces, but the river was not his friend as the {a-Clubs} came crashing down to give Andersson a bigger set to win the pot and sent Navarro to the rail.

Benitez Eliminates Hecklen

Level 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Henrik Hecklen called for 4,000 from the cutoff and Francisco Benitez raised to 11,000 from the button. Action folded around back to Hecklen, who called the extra 7,000, leaving 36,000 behind.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and Hecklen checked over to Benitez, who continued for 7,500. Hecklen shoved his remaining 36,000 and Benitez called.

Henrik Hecklen: {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Francisco Benitez: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}

It was Benitez who had flopped top-top and had to fade Hecklen's king, flush draw,and backdoor straight draw.

The {q-Clubs} turn didn't help Hecklen and neither did the {q-Hearts} that completed the board for the Dane to bust.

Derwiche Doubles

Level 10 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Imad Derwiche
Imad Derwiche

Timothy Adams opened to 6,000 from middle position but was then immediately raised to 20,000 by Imad Derwiche in the hijack.

Adams called and the two saw the flop of {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}. Adams checked to Derwiche who then shoved all in for 101,000, which made Adams pause to weigh his options.

After about 20 seconds, Adams shrugged and stuck his chips into the middle, putting Derwiche at risk.

Imad Derwiche {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Timothy Adams: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Derwiche's kings were way ahead of Adams' tens and the runout of {4-Spades}{9-Spades} changed nothing and Derwiche scooped the pot for a big double up.
