PokerStars Ambassador Ramon Colillas is currently second in the standings, and when he returns, he will be sitting directly to the right of Hvam. The Spaniard is looking to secure the second-biggest cash of his career after his 2019 victory in the $25k PokerStars Players Championship.

Bracelet winner Hugo Pingray is the only other player coming into the day with over 3 million chips, while two other bracelet winners are also still in the field with Niall Farrell and Justin Saliba. They begin the day as the short stacks, but will still have plenty of room to make a run as the shortest stack is still good for over 25 big blinds when the day begins.

Two PokerStars online qualifiers, Erkan Soenmez and Jussi Nevanlinna, are also still alive and have a shot at the glory, while Hungarian Ferenc Deak, Brazilian Marcelo Simoes, Finn Jussi Nevanlinna, Frenchman Yannick Cardot and American Jaime Cervantes are among the players in the middle of the pack in this flagship event of the series which has seen players from all around the world come out to compete.

Hvam Chips Up to 5 Million

Level 23 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Morten Hvam
Morten Hvam

Over on the streamed featured table, Ramon Colillas opened to 55,000 from the hijack with {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, Morten Hvam three-bet to 165,000 in the cutoff with {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, and Ferenc Deak cold four-bet to 420,000 in the big blind with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}. Colillas sent his ladies into the muck and Hvam called.

The dealer spread the {k-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop and Deak led for 185,000. Hvan called.

The apparent case queen fell on the {q-Hearts} turn which would've given Colillas a set, and Deak led for 500,000. Hvan called again, and both players checked the {4-Diamonds} river.

Hvan claimed the pot with his pair of kings and extended his chip lead as he chipped up to the 5 million mark.

Niall Farrell

Niall Farrell opened to 65,000 from under the gun, Zhong Chen called in the hijack, and Morten Hvam called in the small blind.

The dealer spread the {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop and action checked to Chen who bet 85,000. Hvam then raised to 285,000, and Farrell shoved for 1,080,000. Chen folded and Hvam called.

Niall Farrell: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Morten Hvam: {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Farrell was ahead, and as the {3-Clubs} fell on the turn, just needed to fade a diamond. However, the {6-Diamonds} hit the felt to complete the board, and Farrell grimaced at the sight of the unfortunate river as he made his exit in 16th place for €41,680.

Nariman Yaghmai raised to 60,000 and Erkan Soenmez called from the next seat over before Justin Saliba raised all but around 40,000 remaining in his stack. The rest of the table was out of the way before Yaghmai folded and Soenmez jammed to force Saliba in. Saliba called and was at risk in heads-up action.

Justin Saliba: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Erkan Soenmez: {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Clubs} and Soenmez made sevens full of sixes to eliminate Saliba in 15th place for €46,890.

Marcelo Simoes opened with a raise to 60,000 from the button and Nariman Yaghmai three-bet to 180,000 from the big blind. Simoes called and the flop was {q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Yaghmai bet 155,000 on the flop and Simoes raised to 425,000. Yaghmai called and the turn was {4-Hearts}.

Yaghmai checked the turn and Simoes put out two stacks of T-25,000 chips out for a total of 1,000,000 and Yaghmai went into the tank.

After using three time banks, Yaghmai committed the rest of his 1,675,000 and Simoes called quickly with just a little bit more. Simoes turned over {q-Hearts}{9-Spades} for queens and nines and Yaghmai had {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

The river was {8-Spades}, with no help for Yaghmai, and his aces were cracked to eliminate him from the tournament in 14th place for €46,890.

Morten Hvam opened to 80,000 from under the gun and Hugo Pingray three-bet to 325,000 in the cutoff. Zhong Chen called for his 110,000 remaining chips and Hvam folded.

Zhong Chen: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Hugo Pingray: {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}

The {k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop put Chen way in front with top pair and a flush draw. Chen was hoping to fade a red ace, but the {a-Diamonds} hit the felt on the turn to put Pingray ahead. Chen still had many outs to stay alive, but the other red ace came with the {a-Hearts} to ensure he was eliminated in 11th place for €58,130.

Jussi Tapani Nevanlinna
Jussi Tapani Nevanlinna

Jussi Nevanlinna made it 110,000 to go on the outer table as the first player to act and Marcelo Simoes opted to flat-call on the button. The {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop was checked by Nevanlinna and Simoes bet 100,000.

Only a short while later, Nevanlinna then moved all-in for what appeared to be 1,460,000 and Simoes barely wasted ten seconds before calling without asking for an exact count.

They already turned over their cards but had to wait for the ongoing hand on the live stream table to conclude before proceeding with the showdown.

Jussi Nevanlinna: {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Marcelo Simoes: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The {3-Diamonds} turn gave Nevanlinna some more outs but he missed them all on the {10-Spades} river to bow out in 10th place for a payday of €58,130. There will now be a short break to redraw for the nine-handed final table as the action is set to continue on the live stream set.

Alejandro Romero shoved for 305,000 from early position and Morten Hvam called in the small blind.

Alejandro Romero: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

The dealer spread the {9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop to pair Romero's five and keep him ahead, and the {7-Hearts} turn increased the probability of him winning. However, the {q-Diamonds} spiked the river to end Romero's tournament run in 9th place for €69,990.
