Hugo Pingray
Hugo Pingray

Erkan Soenmez raised to 155,000 with the {a-Spades}{7-Clubs} in the small blind and picked up a call by Hugo Pingray in the big blind with the {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. The {j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop was checked by Soenmez and Pingray made it 125,000 to go for Soenmez to call.

After the {3-Hearts} turn, Soenmez checked once more and both players checked to the {q-Hearts} river. Soenmez checked the third street in a row and he then paid off the 125,000 bet of his table neighbour.

Marcelo Simoes

Hugo Pingray opened to 150,000 in early position with {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} and Marcelo Simoes called on the button with {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The {q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop jumped Simoes ahead with top pair. Pingray led for 150,000 and Simoes called.

The {3-Clubs} landed on the turn and Pingray checked-called for 200,000.

The {j-Clubs} completed the board and after Pingray checked, Simoes bet 500,000, causing Pingray to send his eights into the muck, and the Brazilian added to his chip lead.

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Ramon Colillas raised to 125,000 with the {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} in the cutoff and Marcelo Simoes three-bet to 330,000 with the {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. With a shorter stack behind, Colillas glanced back at his chips and eventually opted for the fold.

Simoes Loses One; Wins One

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Marcelo Simoes made it 130,000 to go from an early position with the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Jaime Cervantes three-bet to 325,000 with the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} in the cutoff. The action folded back to Simoes and the Brazilian opted to fold.

Simoes made it another 150,000 to go from under the gun with {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Dragos Trofimov called holding {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} in the big blind. The {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} flop gave Simoes the top pair and once Trofimov checked, he bet 110,000. Upon double-checking his cards one more time, Trofimov folded.

Erkan Soenmez then raised the button to 125,000 with the {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Hugo Pingray made it 400,000 to go with the {a-Spades}{q-Spades} in the small blind, shutting down the last PokerStars qualifier immediately.

Soenmez Gets a Shove Through Versus Hvam

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Erkan Soenmez
Erkan Soenmez

Morten Hvam raised to 150,000 from the button with the {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} and Erkan Soenmez three-bet out of the big blind to 410,000 with the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}. Hvam inquired about the stack size of Soenmez and then four-bet to 1,100,000.

Soenmez had 3,000,000 behind his three-bet and a decision to make, as he settled for a call eventually. The German had the size of the pot behind to the {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} flop and checked his option. Hvam made it 450,000 to go and Soenmez briefly counted his remaining stack before moving all-in for 2,310,000.

Hvam needed some time to make up his mind but sent the cards into the muck.

Yannick Cardot Eliminated in 8th Place (€89,770)

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Yannick Cardot
Yannick Cardot

Yannick Cardot opened to 120,000 from middle position with {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}, Marcelo Simoes three-bet to 300,000 on the button with {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}, and Cardot just called.

The flop landed {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Spades} and Cardot check-called against a bet of 240,000.

The {4-Clubs} fell on the turn and Cardot checked again. Simoes moved all-in, and Cardot called for his 975,000 chips.

Cardot needed to fade a jack or a king to secure the double, but the {j-Clubs} spiked the river as the Brazilian rail, which included recent France Poker Series Main Event winner Lucas Scafini, went wild with shouts of "Vamo!" upon the sight of the unlikely river.

Meanwhile, Cardot had his aces cracked and made his exit in 8th place for €89,770 following the deep run.

Pingray Narrowly Ahead of Cervantes

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Jaime Cervantes opened to 125,000 with the {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Hugo Pingray called in the cutoff with the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}.

"Do you know how much you started with?" Pingray inquired before the {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop appeared. Cervantes checked his option to Pingray who then bet 125,000 and picked up a call by Cervantes.

The {q-Diamonds} turn paired the board and Cervantes checked once more for Pingray to check it back. Both saw the {7-Diamonds} for free and checked it down to award the pot to Pingray.

Niall Farrell may be out of the 2022 EPT Monte-Carlo Main Event - but despite the disappointment, he has not let that get him down. PokerNews spoke to him after the rough knockout hand that sent him to the rail, where he had a positive outlook on what has been a strong showing from the Scotsman.
