Leon Sturm Eliminated in 5th Place ($200,800)
Level 19
: Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Teun Mulder opened to 150,000 from the cutoff and Juan Pardo three-bet to 425,000 from the button. Leon Sturm used a time extension before calling in the big blind, leaving just 45,000 behind. Mulder opted to fold.
The flop came Q♣8♦2♥ and Sturm quickly got his last 45,000 in against Pardo.
Leon Sturm: A♦A♥
Juan Pardo: K♠8♠
Sturm's aces were well ahead on the flop but Pardo made two pair on the K♣ turn to take the lead. Sturm found no help on the 9♦ river and was sent to the rail in fifth place while Pardo continued to distance himself from the rest of the field.
