It will be another action-packed day of poker in the Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile as the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris continues with Day 2 of the €5,300 Main Event, which commences at noon local time as 550 players return and dozens of others get ready to enter.

The two starting flights of the first-ever EPT Paris Main Event attracted 1,570 entries for a prize pool of €7,612,800, and both those numbers will climb before the start of Day 2 as late registration remains open until that time. All new players will sit down with a 20-big blind stack as they look to catch up to the 231 big blinds of Teun Mulder, who has already picked up a trophy this stop after winning €25,000 High Roller II for €389,870.

Chris Brewer, meanwhile, is looking for his third trophy of the series after winning both €25,000 Single-Day High Roller and €50,000 Super High Roller to leave his bubble run-bad in the dust far behind him.

Other big stacks heading into Day 2 include Spain's Omar Gonzalez (317,000) and Gerard Carbo (302,000) Israel's Oshri Lahmani (301,000) and Poland's Marcin Jaworski (275,000).

Salgado Sent Home by Lucarini

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Alexis Lucarini
Alexis Lucarini

Joao Salgado three-bet with a shorter stack out of the blinds and then called all-in for what appeared to be around 45,000 following a four-bet shove of initial raiser Alexis Lucarini.

Joao Salgado: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Alexis Lucarini: {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop kept Salgado in the lead but Lucarini hit the {q-Spades} on the turn. Down to just two outs, Salgado bricked the {9-Diamonds} river and left the tournament area with visible frustration.

Roovers Continues Hot Run With Another Full House

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Mark Roovers
Mark Roovers

Serge Chechin from under the gun and one further player limped in before Mark Roovers raised out of the big blind. Upon receiving two callers, the trio headed to the {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop on which Roovers checked. Chechin moved all-in and was snap-called by Roovers.

Serge Chechin: {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Mark Roovers: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {k-Hearts} turn improved Chechin to a flush yet he was drawing dead, as he gasped an "ou la la la" while grabbing his belongings. A meaningless {4-Hearts} fell on the river and Roovers collected yet another pot before he told the other players at the table to have hit multiple full houses already.

Five-Bet Pot Ends in Chop for "YoH ViraL"

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Johan Guilbert
Johan Guilbert

Johan Guilbert opened to 5,000 from the cutoff and Nazar Buhaiov three-bet to 18,000 out of the small blind. Guilbert entered his signature statue pose before four-betting to 42,000. Buhaiov wasted no time five-bet jamming and Guilbert quickly called with a bigger stack.

Nazar Buhaiov: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Johan Guilbert: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

Both players had ace-king and a chop was imminent as the flop landed {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} to leave Guilbert freerolling to backdoor diamonds. The {9-Spades} turn then confirmed a chop before the meaningless {3-Hearts} river.

Quad Aces for Moore

Peter Moore
Peter Moore

Peter Moore opened to 6,000 and Miroslav Forman three-bet to 18,000. Moore four-bet to 46,000 with 45,000 behind and Forman re-raised for all the chips to get in the middle.

Peter Moore: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Miroslav Forman: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The preflop cooler turned into a postflop sweat as the flop landed {q-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} to give Moore a set but to leave Forman outs with two backdoor draws. The {j-Spades} turn gave Forman outs to a straight before the {a-Spades} landed on the river to give Moore quads for a double.

"Always a sweat!" Moore said as he raked in the pot.

Trigo checked again on the {4-Clubs} turn and opted to fold when Orpaz fired again for 18,000.

Hand #2 (Cutoff): Giuseppe Imperato opened to 5,500 in middle position and Kenny Hallaert three-bet 18,000 from the hijack before Orpaz folded.

Hand #3 (Hijack): Christian Pedersen opened to 5,500 in early position and action folded to Orpaz, who also folded.

Hand #4 (Middle Position): Action folded to Orpaz and he fired a bet of 5,500. Everyone folded.

"Good fold," said Orpaz. "I thought you were gonna shove on me."

Hand #8: Imperato opened to 5,500 before Hallaert three-bet to 18,000 from the cutoff. Orpaz was next to act and folded.
