Nass Nixed by Gomez's Ladies

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Vojtech Kratochvil opened to 12,000 from middle position and was three-bet to 36,000 by Alvaro Gomez from the cutoff. Maurice Nass shoved for approximately 100,000 on the button and action folded back around to Gomez, who called to put Nass at risk.

Maurice Nass: A4
Alvaro Gomez: QQ

The 10Q9 flop gave Gomez a set and Nass a flush draw, but the 10 turn improved Gomez to a full house and left Nass drawing dead.

An irrelevant 7 completed the board and Gomez collected the rest of Nass' chips.

Hero Call Goes Wrong for Goncalves

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Joao Goncalves had open-raised preflop from under the gun and Davis Mihelsons defended the big blind. The 6J4 flop then saw Mihelsons check-raise Goncalves' 12,000 bet to 35,000 and Goncalves call.

On the subsequent Q turn, Mihelsons fired another 35,000 and Goncalves called again. Mihelsons then jammed all in for his remaining 80,000 chips and Goncalves thought it over for a bit before making the call.

Mihelsons showed 66 for a full house, and Goncalves was forced to show his 77 for two pair. Mihelsons doubled up nicely, while Goncalves was left with just 15 big blinds.

Rivory Busts Van Wonterghem; Takes from Koloszar

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Picking the action up on the turn, the short-stacked Sebastian Van Wonterghem was all in for 11,000 and had two opponents, Philippe Rivory and Daniel Koloszar. The side pot had swollen to 68,000 and the board read 9Q4A.

Rivory put out a bet of 30,000 and Koloszar called.

On the J river, Rivory moved all in and Koloszar quickly folded. Rivory showed A3 for top pair which bettered Van Wonterghem's 52. The pot pushed Rivory towards the 500,000 mark.

Rosich's Nines Bust Lipnitskii

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

After a middle position open to 17,000, Vladimir Lipnitskii shoved all in for around 130,000 from the small blind. David Tous Rosich in the big blind then reshoved, covering the Russian. The initial raiser got out of the way and action went heads up.

Vladimir Lipnitskii: A10
David Tous Rosich: 99

Rosich was still ahead as flop came 5J8. The K on the turn gave Lipnitskii more outs - a ten, queen or ace on the final street would save him his tournament life.

But it wasn't to be, as a 6 on the river condemned Lipnitskii to the rail, pocketing €1,940 in the process.

Balint Doubles Up

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The action was folded round to Iosif Balint on the button, who opened to 15,000. Daniel Erlandsson three-bet all in from the big blind, putting Balint at risk if he made the call. After some thought, Balint called for his remaining stack of 89,000.

Iosif Balint: KQ
Daniel Erlandsson: A5

Balint needed some help, finding it as the J47Q3 runout brought a pair of queens on the turn and the double-up.

Martinovic Forces a Fold From Kun

Level 17 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Gerard Rubiralta Cortes limped from early position and Jiri Kun limped behind on the button. Dragoljub Martinovic raised to 28,000 from the small blind, which got a fold from Cortes but a call from Kun.

Kun called a 10,000 bet from Martinovic on the 24K flop and then Martinovic checked after the A fell on the turn.

Kun bet 35,000 and Martinovic quickly check-raised all in for around 100,000 total. Kun thought a bit before folding and Martinovic dragged the pot without showing.

Ostrowski Ships Monster Pot With Rockets

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The board was dealt up until the turn and read 6643 when Lukas Hafner got his stack of 190,000 chips in the middle against Dominik Ostrowski, who covered him. With 175,000 chips already in the pot beforehand, a huge pot of twice the average stack had been created.

Lukas Hafner: Q7
Dominik Ostrowski: AA

Hafner needed to hit his straight draw to stay alive in the tournament, but the A river gave Ostrowski a full house instead. It meant the end of Hafner's Main Event adventure, seeing him strand on the second level of Day 2.
