Lebor's Bold Move Backfires as Peternell Holds Strong

Level 12 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Silvia Peternell opened the action with a raise to 4,000 from early position, and Viet Van Vo called from the cutoff. However, Benjamin Lebor in the big blind had bigger ambitions, three-betting to 20,000. Peternell made the call, while Vo folded.

The flop came down J♣10♣8♠ and Lebor wasted no time, shoving all in. Peternell snap-called.

"Seriously?" Lebor muttered as Peternell revealed A♣A♦ for an overpair, while he showed A♥K♠, hoping for a miracle straight.

Despite his wish for a queen, the turn and river didn’t cooperate, delivering 5♦ and 10♦ instead. With nothing left to save him, Lebor packed up.

"Dang, I don’t even know why I did it," Lebor said with a shake of his head as he left the table.

Boatman Flops the Goods

Barny Boatman raised from early position and was three-bet to 7,000 by Hakan Pamukcu in middle position. Action folded back around to Boatman, who called.

Boatman checked on the 10♦3♦J♦ flop and Pamukcu checked behind.

"Ah, you avoided my trap. I was gonna check-raise," Boatman said.

Pamukcu then called a 6,500 bet from Boatman on the 6♠ turn and a 20,000 bet from Boatman on the 2♥ river.

Boatman turned over A♦8♦ for the flopped nut flush and Pamukcu mucked.

Georgi Sandev moved all in from middle position with a short stack of 8,500 and was looked up by Mustafa Simsek, who called on the button with the covering stack. Players flipped their cards.

Dubanov Continues to Climb

Vladislav Dubanov opened to 3,000 from the cutoff and was called by Andrzej Powalka in the small blind Cengiz Asku in the big blind.

It was checked to Dubanov on the J♥4♥K♣ flop and he continued for 2,200. Powalka called and Asku folded.

The A♠ fell on the turn and Powalka checked, prompting a 10,500 barrel from Dubanov. Powalka again called.

Powalka checked a final time after the 10♦ completed the board and Dubanov fired 22,000 into the middle. Powalka tanked a bit, but eventually decided to look him up and Dubanov tabled Q♥3♥ for a flush draw turned runner-runner straight.

Powalka tossed his hand into the muck and Dubanov, who is among the chip leaders, added to his stack.

Pavlou Pavlos raised to 3,500 from middle position and Romain Retiere called in late position.

"I'm trying something different," said Retiere.

The flop came 3♥Q♥K♥ and Pavlos checked. Retiere made it 2,000 to go and Pavlos called.

The turn was the A♣ and Pavlos checked again. Retiere bet 12,000 and Pavlos made the call. Both players then checked to showdown on the 10♠ river.

Pavlos turned over A♥Q♠ for two pair, aces and queens. Retiere mucked his hand and Pavlos won the pot.

"That didn't work either," said Retiere.

Cengiz Aksu started the action with a raise to 3,000 from under the gun, and Adi Rajkovic made the call from the big blind.

On the 3♦9♦3♠ flop, Rajkovic checked, prompting Aksu to bet 2,500. Rajkovic responded with a raise to 6,500, and Aksu called.

Both players then checked through the 10♠ turn and the 8♥ river, taking it to showdown. Rajkovic revealed 5♣5♦ for two pair, fives and threes, and that was enough to send Aksu’s hand into the muck.
