EPT Monte Carlo Continues with Day 1b of €1,100 FPS Main Event

The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte Carlo taking place at Sporting Monte-Carlo kicked off today with the €1,100 France Poker Series Main Event. Day 1a, the first of the four starting flights, got underway this afternoon with its turbo counterpart, Day 1b, set to kick off at 6 pm.

The same event last year drew a former record-breaking field of 2,138 entries which saw the eventual winner Daisuke Ogita claim the trophy and the lion’s share of the €2,052,480 prize pool. Ogita defeated France’s Rubens Sellam in heads-up play, taking home a massive €307,160 for his efforts.

Each player will receive a starting stack of 30,000 with the blinds commencing at 100/100 with a 100 big-blind ante. The levels will be 30 minutes long with players allowed one reentry per flight. A break of 20 minutes will be held every four levels. Late registration will close at the end of Level 10 and play will end for the day once the field is reduced to 15% of the total entries. All players who survive into Day 2 are guaranteed to make the money, with the prize pool being announced at the start of Day 2.

Kyte Bests Bo

Level 3 : Blinds 100/300, 300 ante

1,500 was in the middle on a board of Q57 when Jon Kyte slid out a bet of 800, only to be met with a check-raise from his opponent, Alm Bo, to 2,200.

Kyte was not deterred by the response, and quickly made it 7,200 for Bo to continue. After some thought, Bo folded, tapping the table.

Kyte said "Good fold, Buddy," and Bo responded "It's too early for that," with Kyte further intimating he had an overpair.

After a preflop raising war, Cristian Veres, in the hijack, found himself all in and at risk for his effective stack of 30,700, against Nina Krasilnikova in the big blind.

The board ran out JK25Q; Krasilnikova's flopped gutshot didn't materialize and Veres raked in this pot with his set of jacks.

Kyte Busts Bergin

Conor Bergin opened in the cutoff to 700 and Jon Kyte defended his big blind.

On the Q108 flop, Kyte check-raised to 2,000 versus a bet of 500 from Bergin.

On the 3 turn, Kyte put out a pot-sized bet of 6,200 and after quite a bit of deliberation, Bergin moved all in for around 20,000. Kyte made the snap call.

In a cooler, Bergin had run his top two pair into the nut straight of Kyte, with Bergin needing to fill up to survive.

The river brought the K and Bergin made his exit, sending a huge pot to Kyte.

No Action for Krasilnikova with Aces

Eduard Garaj opened to 800 from the button, and was met with a three-bet to 1,500 from Miha Travnik in the small blind.

Nina Krasilnikova was in the big blind and quickly moved all in for around 10,000, bringing swift folds from her opponents, much to her anguish.

"No!" she exclaimed, "It's not much more!" before turning over AA.

Mohamed El Berrak, in the big blind, moved all in, putting opponent Christian Alilovic, in the cutoff, at risk for his effective stack of 19,500. Alilovic made a reluctant call.

Both the blinds checked the action to Fintan Hand in the hijack, who bet out 1,800. Both Nikolay Arzumanyan and Ferrero Fulvio made a quick fold and Hand scooped this pot without a showdown.

Chasset Gets Two Streets from Wroblewski

Jean-Baptiste Chasset opened to 800 and received calls from Damian Wroblewski on the button and Hrayr Grigoryan in the big blind.

On the Q6J flop Chasset continued with a bet of 1,500, which was met by a raise to 4,000 from Wroblewski. Grigoryan got out of the way and Chasset called.

On the J turn Chasset check-called a bet of 5,000 from Wroblewski.

On the 6 river both players checked. Chasset showed KQ for top pair of queens, while Wroblewski showed the Q but mucked his hand.

Gaspare Sposato opened to 1,100 from early position and was faced with a three-bet to 3,500 from PokerStars Team Pro Fintan Hand on the button.

Action folded back to Sposato, who pondered his options before producing a small four-bet to 7,700.

Hand thought the spot over for a moment, before moving the rest of his chips into the middle, earning a swift fold from Sposato.

PokerNews caught the action as Jon Kyte, in the big blind, bet out 3,000 on the 676 flop. Danilo Colomba, who was under the gun, called and Bobby James moved all in for 9,900. Both players called.

Kyte and Colomba checked to a showdown on the 3 and K runout.

James flopped a open-ended straight draw, but much to the surprise of the whole table, he fell short to the ace-high of Kyte.
