Arduini check-called and the turn saw the 10♣ arrive. Arduini checked once more and was faced with a 700,000 bet from Ponakovs. Having been upgraded to two pair, Arduini made the call and the J♦ river completed the board.
A third check followed from Arduini, after which Ponakovs put 1,700,000 chips in the middle. Arduini used three time bank extensions but eventually stuck in the call.
He saw the bad news at showdown and paid his dues to the Latvian high roller, who soared up the leaderboard as a result.
