Wheeler Cannot Get Simsek to Fold

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

What started as a limped pot then brought the squeeze of Jason Wheeler in the big blind, and he was only called by Mustafa Simsek. Wheeler then bet all the way on the 954 flop for 2,600, 7,000 on the K turn as well as 20,000 on the 8 river with 100 chips behind.

Simsek called the first two bets and then went deep into the tank on the river before coming along with the marginally bigger stack. Wheeler showed his A10 for a bluff and Simsek won the pot with the 77, leaping out of his seat to brief a sigh of relief.

Wheeler was forced all-in the next hand and busted, wished everyone good luck and bumped fists with Simsek before heading out.

Ioannis Oikonomidis: QQ
Nazar Buhaiov: KK

Buhaiov had the best of it and improved to a set on the K102 flop. The A turn gave Oikonomidis a life line with a gutshot but the 4 river was a blank.

Timo Kamphues
Timo Kamphues

Timo Kamphues and Laszlo Molnar were battling over a 34,500-chip pot when they both checked on the 99410 turn. Kamphues then checked again on the J river, after which Molnar decided to go for it all.

He put his stack of 24,100 chips in the middle and Kamphues asked for a count. Shortly after he heard the correct number, he stuck in a call.

Molnar showed A7 for the nut flush, beating the J10 of Kamphues, who played two pair. He was left with just three big blinds, which he would lose as well shortly after the hand.

Petakovich Provides First Casualty of Day 1a

Level 1 : Blinds 100/100, 100 ante
Milos Petakovic
Milos Petakovic

The action was caught when the cards were being swept away, but with some chips already in the middle, Daniel Lellouche had put in his final 14,000 on a board of A10J53.

Milos Petakovic was the other player in the hand, and his AK for the nut flush beat the KxQx of Lellouche, who had flopped a straight.

Lellouche was dismayed and let out some stern words in his native French before storming off as the first bust-out of the EPT Paris Main Event.
