Nielsen's Double Barrel Works

Level 5 : Blinds 200/500, 500 ante

Klaus Buchwald raised to 1,500 under the gun and got calls from Sebastian Skurzynski, Christian Nielsen, and Navid Saberin.

The action checked to Nielsen on the 1082 flop and he bet 2,500 from the button. Only Saberin called out of the big blind.

Saberin checked again on the 5 turn and then faced a bet of 6,500 from Nielsen. After a few moments, Saberin folded his cards and surrendered the pot to Nielsen.

Padraig O'Neill
Padraig O'Neill

The road to PokerStars European Poker Tour glory always has plenty of twists and turns, and the record-breaking 2023 EPT €5,300 Prague Main Event was no exception.

Jon Kyte, who had led the tournament from Day 3, entered the finale with 229 big blinds and a historic chip lead, one that was assumed to be unassailable. Padraig O'Neill had other ideas and was unexpectedly awarded the final EPT Trophy of the 2023 season after overcoming the Norwegian in heads-up play.

Known affectionately as "Smidge" in the Irish poker community, O'Neill came into the day as the shortest stack and turned his 12 big blinds into a €1,030,000 payout. With the victory, he became Ireland's second-ever EPT Main Event champion, 11 years after Steve O'Dwyer reigned supreme in Monte Carlo.

Klausen's pair of sixes were out in front of Mittal's ace-high and the K river changed nothing, ensuring his double up.

Geleziunas Doesn't Know He Still Has a Stack

Level 6 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Tomas Geleziunas raised to 2,000, the button called and Alex Montgomery, in the small blind, three-bet to 5,900. Geleziunas clicked it back to 9,000 and the button folded. Montgomery moved all in for 28,100 and Geleziunas called.

Alex Montgomery: AA All in
Tomas Geleziunas: KK

The board ran out 68228; Montgomery's aces held to double him up. However, at face value, the stacks looked so close that Geleziunas thought he'd bust and left the tournament floor. It was only after the dealer verified the stacks that it was confirmed Geleziunas still had around 2,000 left behind the line, but he was not present to find this out, leaving his stack to be blinded away.
