Franchi Doubles With Aces

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Malcolm Franchi
Malcolm Franchi

Ignacio Sole open-raised to 30,000 from the button and Malcolm Franchi three-bet to 120,000 from the small blind. Sole then four-bet to 230,000 and Franchi called.

The flop came 102J and Franchi checked. Sole continued for 80,000 and Franchi check-raised all in for 485,000. Sole made the call with the bigger stack and players flipped their cards.

Malcolm Franchi: AA All in
Ignacio Sole: K9

Franchi had pocket aces, but Sole wasn't out of the hand yet. He had a flush draw, along with an gutshot straight draw and had two chances to catch his outs.

The turn was the 3 and the river came another blank, the J. Franchi held to win the pot, doubling up and decimating Sole's stack, which earlier in the day had grown to nearly 1,000,000. Franchi chipped up to around 1,500,000, putting him among the chip leaders heading to the break.
