Pardo Cracks Malec's Aces to Bust Former EPT Champion

Level 22 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Sebastian Malec open-raised to 40,000 from under the gun and Juan Pardo defended in the big blind.

Both players then checked on 7♥10♣7♠ flop. The turn was the 9♣ and Pardo used a time bank before putting out a bet of 130,000, which Malec snap-called.

The river came the 5♥ and Pardo announced that he was all in, putting his oppponent to the test for all of Malec's remaining stack. Malec immediately made the call.

Malec flipped over A♣A♦ for pocket aces, two pair with the sevens on board. Pardo, though, showed 9♥9♠ for a full house, nines full of sevens to win the pot.

Both players had near-equal stacks, but after the count it was revealed that Pardo had slightly more than Malec. Pardo close to doubled his stack, while Malec was sent to the exit, meaning there will be no second title for the EPT Barcelona 2016 champion.

Mustafov Four-Bets Popot, Then Shoves

Fahredin Mustafov raised to 40,000 in the cutoff and Frederic Popot three-bet to 85,000 in the small blind. Mustafov then four-bet to 220,000 and Popot used a few time banks before calling.

The flop came J♣9♠8♠ and Popot checked to Mustafov, who tanked for a minute before moving all in. Popot, who had around 400,000 remaining, snap-folded.

Apoorva Goel was recently eliminated at another table and the field went on a prolonged break while a random table was broken.

Julien Mariani open-raised from middle position, Georgios Karakousis three-bet to 125,000 from the big blind, and Mariani called. The flop came 8♠3♦4♠ and Karakousis continued for 125,000, which Mariani called.

The turn came the 10♦ and Karakousis pushed all in, covering his opponent's 450,000 stack. Mariani went deep into the tank before eventually making the fold.

[Removed:533] open-raised from middle position and Jamil Wakil three-bet to 130,000 from the hijack. [Removed:534] then pushed 540,000 in the middle, enough to cover his opponent. Wakil gave it quite a bit of thought before making the call for 480,000. Players flipped their cards, with Wakil at risk.

Goeller Drills the Turn to Stun Pochat

Jamil Wakil raised to 40,000 in middle position and Andreas Goeller three-bet to 90,000 in the cutoff. Action went on Lucas Pochat in the big blind who threw in a time bank card.

Wakil thought he had tossed his cards away and called Goeller's bet before Pochat had acted. The floor was called over and Pochat eventually shoved all in. Wakil was allowed to take his chips back, while Goeller also tanked for a minute before calling for 560,000.

Goeller was dominated and at risk as the flop came 5♦4♠2♥, but he spiked the Q♥ on the turn to take the lead.

After getting it in ahead and losing a huge pot moments before, Lucas Pochat open-shoved from the hijack for 260,000 and was looked up by Jamil Wakil in the small blind, who had him well covered as players flipped their cards.

Wakil had Pochat dominated and Pochat found no help as the board ran out 7♥J♣3♥2♥3♦. Wakil held with his ace-high to win the pot, eliminating Pochat from the tournament.

Fourth Pair Wins Kokhestani a Massive Pot

Three players saw a flop of 10♠5♣4♣ where Jean-Marc Cristiani bet 80,000 from the big blind. Khossein Kokhestani then raised to 500,000 in early position and Leon Zeaiter called as action went back on Cristiani.

Cristiani went deep into the tank, taking several minutes and burning through most of his time banks. Kokhestani remained still, but Zeaiter got up from his seat and started pacing around until being reminded to sit back down while still in the hand.

Cristiani eventually folded and Kokhestani and Zeaiter went heads-up to the A♦ turn. Kokhestani then bet 200,000 and Zeaiter quickly called.

"Always call," Kokhestani told him.

"Why not?" Zeaiter replied. The river was the 3♠ and Kokhestani slowed down and checked. Zeaiter paused for a moment and checked behind as Kokhestani showed 7♦4♦ for a pair of fours.

Zeaiter studied the board for a few seconds as Kokhestani started dancing, realizing his pair of fours were enough to win the pot. Zeaiter mucked his cards and Kokhestani dragged in the massive pile of chips.

"Easy game. Flop straight, sets," tablemate Miguel Capriles said to Jungevicius, who stacked up around 2,500,000 after the hand.

Kolonias Makes Flush Against Cristiani

Jean-Marc Cristiani opened the action with a raise to 40,000 from early position, Pierre Chevalier called in the hijack, Alexandros Kolonias called on the button, and the big blind came along.

The flop ran out 4♣J♣J♦ and the big blind checked. Cristiani made it 50,000 to go, which was called by both Chevalier and Kolonias.

On the 5♣ turn, Cristiani and Chevalier checked. Kolonias fired out a bet of 95,000, then Cristiani check-raised all in. Chevalier got out of the way and Kolonias quickly made the call for the rest of his stack, 345,000 chips.

Cristiani showed A♣J♠ for trip jacks with a draw to the nut flush, a strong hand indeed, but Kolonias was ahead as he flipped over Q♣10♣ for a turned flush.

The river came the 6♥ and Kolonias held to win the pot, more than doubling up his stack.
