Day 2 Set for €1,650 PokerStars Open Barcelona
The €1,650 PokerStars Open at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona has wrapped up its opening flights at Casino Barcelona, with 4,333 entries generated by 1,958 unique players. The 648 players who advanced to Day 2 have all secured a piece of the €6,239,520 prize pool, with the full payout structure set to be confirmed ahead of Thursday's 11 a.m. local time restart.
Maor Zaharagi finished the starting flights at the top of the leaderboard after putting together a standout performance in Day 1g. The Israeli bagged 864,000 chips to take the overall lead. Hugues Girard came closest to matching Zaharagi, finishing Day 1h with 848,000 to claim second place overall. He will return for Day 2 with a strong shot at challenging for the top spot when play resumes.
Several familiar faces also made it through to the money. PokerStars Ambassadors Julien Dupre (330,000), Julien Brecard (158,000) and Kenny Hallaert (107,000) all advanced, alongside Maria Konnikova (57,000).
