Tavares Has Kicker Problems
Level 14
: Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Nicola Bordignon checked from the big blind on the 4♣7♦2♦ flop and Gabriel Tavares bet 7,000 from middle position. Bordignon check-raised to 20,000, and after a few moments, Tavares shoved. Bordignon had the effective stack of 65,000 and quickly called, putting himself at risk.
Nicola Bordignon: A♣7♣
Gabriel Tavares: Q♠7♠
Both had a pair of sevens, but Bordignon's ace kicker had him poised to double up.
Tavares found no help on the 9♦ turn or 9♥ river, and had to send over a portion of his stack to Bordignon.
