Apparrently he's famous German singer. which puts him on a par with David Hasslehof. Wow! Impressive!

He was sitting with $15,000 the last time we saw him so it must have been a big hand he busted out on.

The break is over and the restaurant was a frenzy of Apfelstrudel and bad-beat stories. The levels are now $150/300 and the antes have kicked in. Watch this space for more updates on the Apfelstrudel.

Shipley Ships Out

After nursing a stack of $4000 for most of the day, John Shipley has been eliminated. Our man Lee is still hanging in there, giving a master class on short-stack poker.

The prize structures will not be announced until tomorrow when Day 1B starts. With 178 players still remaining today after eight hours of play, it looks like it's going to be a long night.

As I went out to the tournament area to try and get a look at the big stacks developing, two of the few ladies in the field were busted out. So, I left Carter to it, and went back to the press area in case I disappointed every lady in the room. Story of my life. :(

Badgirl also lost about 3k while I was at her her table and looks to be on about 13,000.

Mulligan Mulligone

Bad news guys, our boy Lee Mulligan has been sent packing. His pocket sixes got all in against Emo Wim's ace-king, but the flop brought not one but two aces.

Our Lee is gutted, saying, "Nothing has gone right for me today. I'm going home now before I get tempted to play in a cash game".

Never mind Lee, you're still a big winner to us.

... and we are playing down to the end of Level 9 today. I have tried to get a complete list of today's starters from Pokerstars, but we've all been hamstrung by the technical hiccups today, so we'll continue to make do as best we can.
