Praz Bansi Doubles Up

WSOP Bracelet Winner Praz Bansi's chips have been up and down like a yo-yo today and he has just won a pretty sick hand. I joined the table just as Bansi (who had $6000 total) was reraised all in and pot-committed preflop.

The guy opposite him turns over {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

Praz Turns over {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

The flop comes {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} giving him plenty of outs and the {6-Hearts} on the turn gives him the flush, with a {2-Diamonds} river missing the other guy's redraw.

There then followed quite a lengthy count of his winnings, as the dealer 'had a moment' and suddenly forgot how to count; the tournament director finally came to the rescue and Praz had more than doubled up to $14,000.

Elsewhere, Marcel Lüske has just won a special single-table tournament called The German Stars of Poker.

Tony Chessa in da' House

The Scotsman is chatting with some of the Italian press at my table. Funnily enough, he sounds exactly the same speaking Italian as he does when he speaks English. Tony will be playing tomorrow, but he wanted me to say he's "arriving" tomorrow. Whatever, Tony!

ElkY Trebles Up

He just won a three-way pot, all in preflop with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and is now back to about 9K.

JP Kelly got his stack up to 18K, proving that the way to play quads is to keep betting!!

As usual, Badgirl's stack is yo-yoing all over the place. She just got a strange 80% increase in her stack when her Scandinavian opponent immediately folded on the turn when getting about 8:1. The best thing for me to do is just tell you she is somewhere between 12K and 20K as she seems to be playing every pot.

Hagen Daas It

Ok, Nicky wasnt around and I have officially run out of puns, so Hagen Daas it is.

Andreas Hagen has somehow tripled up and is the chip leader with 64k.

Matts Iremark has just won a big hand holding {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} on a flop of
{K-Spades}{3-Spades}{6-Spades}; he reraised all in and was called by {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}, the turn and river brought {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, and he lives to fight another day.

Haugen Daas It (Again)

It seems my last post with the Hagen Daas pun was fate because a similar-named player has just taken the chip lead. Fredrik Haugen, who won the 2006 Carribean Poker Classic, has just amassed a stack of 82,000. Let's hope he and Andreas Hagen both go deep, as that will keep this reporter in puns for the rest of the week.

On Break

Players are on a break for about 15 minutes. When they return, blinds will be 300/600 with a 75 ante so we should see plenty of casualties.

I will have some chip counts for you shortly.

Chip Leaders

Fredrik Haugen is our chip leader on almost 90K. Apparently he's the chairman of the Danish Poker Federation. He's got so many chips he can't even stack 'em!

Andreas Hagen is in second position with 64K but has been moved to a seat between his Norwegian counterpart Johnny Lodden and Swede Mats Iremark, who both have stacks closing in on 30K now, so these chips could go absolutely anywhere.
