The EPT Online series saw the fifth tournament take place today when EPT Online 05: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max, Win the Button], $200k Gtd kicked-off. A total of 238 entries were accumulated, surpassing the guaranteed set by a fair margin. When the last chance saloon had closed for business it was Germany's Claas "SsicK_OnE" Segebrecht sitting atop the field, pulling in the $45,765 first-place money, along with an EPT Spade trophy.

Segebrecht, repping Austria like many of his high-stakes countrymen, sports over $2.7M in lifetime cashes on The Hendon Mob, including victories in the 2017 Master Classics of Poker Main Event for €235,087 and a third place in the €25,000 WSOPE High Roller for €321,863, which was in the same month as his MCOP win.

Segebrecht hovered around average for the better part of the day and it wasn't until the money was reached that they really started to heat up. The Austrian doubled through and then eliminated well-known poker pro Alexandru "steakaddict." Papazian with most of the damage coming with a pair of dimes versus the snowmen of Papazian. Segebrecht put their newly acquired chips to use, running over the rest of the tournament en route to a decent feat.

The final table was, as expected, full of highly accoladed pros that were bringing the heat in what was one of the most action-packed tournaments of the series thus far. Highlighting the final table was Adrian "Amadi_017" Mateos who is 27th on the all-time money list and brought an immense amount of experience to this tournament, falling just short of an EPT trophy.

Action of the Day

The day started off just how it ended, full of non-stop action and it wasn't long before the money bubble was reached. It took just under five hours before the bubble popped and it was none other than Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet being dubbed as the inevitable bubble boy. Van Fleet shoved his stack into the middle with ace-queen of clubs and unfortunately ran into the big slick of Mateos. The board ran out clean for Mateos and all players were then in the money, guaranteed at least a min-cash of $2,138.

Just one hour after the bubble had burst, the final table was set, and it was Sami "Lrslzk" Kelopuro sitting atop the leaderboard at the time. Segebrecht started their final table slaughter with Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson when a queen-high flop gave Segebrecht flush and straight draws versus the pocket kings of Mattsson. A diamond landed on the river, giving Segebrecht a flush and the pot, sending the Swede out the door.

Fan-favorite Mateos was the next to take an exit when he ran his pocket tens into the queens of Kelopuro. Following right behind the Spaniard was Dimitri "MITS 304" Michaelides who couldn't win a race with his snowmen against the ace-jack of Kelopuro, sending him out the door in seventh place.

"L1VeYRdrEamS" was next on the chopping block as they attempted to take down the red-hot Kelopuro. "L1VeYRdrEamS" shoved their ace-jack into the middle, only to run into the ace-queen of Kelopuro. A brick runout sent "L1VeYRdrEamS" to the rail in sixth place. A queen-eight flop had "Stiffler8818" land two pair but they failed to win the pot, running their two pair into the set of snowmen of Jans "Graftekkel" Arends who sent "Stiffler8818" to the cleaners in fifth.

Shortly after eliminated an opponent it was Arends taking an exit. Arends shoved his king-queen and was called by Segebrecht who held ace-jack. The board ran out, giving Segebrecht quad aces, completing gutting Arends and he was eliminated in fourth. It was not long after that Rodrigo "Seijistar" Seiji shoved his stack in with king-two and was instantly called by the ace-eight of Segebrecht. The board came down dry and Seiji was eliminated by the eventual champion in third place.

The heads up battle saw the two hottest running players at the table dual it out, swinging the lead back and forth for quite a while before a champion was crowned. Segebrecht applied just about as much pressure as any player could at any given time and Kelopuro could only resist for so long before taking a walk down the dusty trail. A queen-high board hit Kelopuro with top pair and he called down until the six river where Segebrecht jammed their stack into the middle. Kelopuro called with their queen, just to find out that "SsicK_OnE" rivered a set of sixes to scoop the pot, eliminating Kelopuro from the tournament for a respectable $34,900.

Congratulations to Claas "Ssick_OnE" Segebrecht on taking down EPT Online 05: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max, Win the Button] for $45,765, along with an EPT Spade trophy.

That wraps it up for the coverage of this event, but check back in on any of the future EPT events to see the PokerNews live coverage of all of the action.
