Dan Smith
Dan Smith

World Series of Poker November Niner Martin Jacobson raised to 25,000 from the hijack seat before Dan Smith reraised all in from the small blind for around 220,000. When action got back to Jacobson, he called with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

"Well, that's not good," said Smith as he turned over the {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}, and Smith, the inaugural champion of this event from Season 9, was eliminated. Jacobson soared to over 1.1 million in chips.

Mercier Doubles with Aces

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier raised to 24,000. Mustapha Kanit reraised from the small blind to 58,000, and then Mercier came back over the top and moved all in for 235,000. Kanit called, but when he did he saw that his {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} was dominated by Mercier's {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}.

The flop, turn, and river delivered the {J-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, and despite a slight scare on the turn to give Kanit a straight draw, Mercier was able to double up.

Colman Doubles Through Thorel

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

We just witness Jean-Noel Thorel bet out 75,000 on {3-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{K-Spades} from the under the gun position. Daniel Colman moved in for 125,000 total, and Thorel made the call after some thinking and calculating.

Colman had the best of it with {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Thorel needed some help to eliminate his opponent with {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}. The {A-Hearts} on the river didn't help the Frenchman, and Colman doubled.

Meanwhile, Bryn Kenney has been eliminated from the tournament. He was short stacked for some time, and found no luck today.

Shakerchi Doubles Through Pantling

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Two camera crews were covering each and every action on one of the outer tables, and we rushed over to see what was happening.

With {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{J-Hearts} on the table, Talal Shakerchi had moved in for 230,000 total. Shakerchi was seated in early position, and Andrew Pantling in the hijack was his opponent.

After some thinking, Pantling made the call. Shakerchi showed his {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and Pantling mucked. Because Shakerchi was all in, Pantling's hand was shown. Pantling's hand turned out to be {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and he lost a bunch of chips because of it.

The Defending Champion Is Gone

Level 11 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Vitaly Lunkin
Vitaly Lunkin

The defending champion of this event, Vitaly Lunkin, has been eliminated.

After raising preflop from under the gun, Lunkin found calls from Dong Kim on the button and Igor Kurganov in the small blind before seeing the flop come down {K-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}. Action checked to Lunkin, he bet, and both players called.

The turn was the {5-Hearts}, and action was checked to Lunkin again. He fired a pot-sized bet of roughly 165,000, Kim raised all in for a little bit more, and Kurganov folded. Lunkin called with the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, and Kim had the {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. The river was the {6-Spades}, and Kim doubled up.

Left with around 35,000 after that loss, Lunkin called all in on the next hand with {8-}{6-} from the big blind after Kurganov shoved all in from the small blind. Kurganov held {Q-}{4-} and it stayed the best hand to send Lunkin packing.
