Ready for Action on Day 2 of the €50,000 Super High Roller

Ryan Fee Leading the Charge
Ryan Fee Leading the Charge

Yesterday was the warm up, and today is what matters. That's because yesterday, on Day 1, players were able to reenter if they busted, but today it's a freeze-out like we all know too well.

As of the end of play last night, 56 unique players entered the tournament with 16 reentries were made. That brought the total amount of entries to 72, which was a record for this Barcelona event. Players are allowed to enter or reenter up until the start of play today, and more than likely we'll see the field size increase.

One of the players that might decide to make one more contribution to the prize pool is Mike McDonald. He already reentered once, but he busted in one of the last hands of the day on Day 1. Responsible for McDonald's elimination was Ryan Fee, who was having a pretty good day already. Fee finished the first eight levels of play with the chip lead, bagging up 919,000.

Play will resume at 12 p.m. local time, playing either 10 levels or down to the final eight players.

PokerNews will be on site for coverage of all the important hands, bad beats, and suck outs, so be sure to stay tuned right here for the upcoming coverage. Also, PokerStars.tv will have a live-streamed feature table for you, starting at noon as well.

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Pratyush Buddiga has just entered the room and is playing today, and so is Alec Torelli. Mike McDonald also re entered, after busting twice on Day 1, and so did Oleksii Khoroshenin.

Perfect Start for Klein

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Morten Klein
Morten Klein

Morten Klein started out as the shortest stack, but in the first few hands he already doubled twice. We missed his first double up, but we were on sight to witness the second in all it's glory.

Vanessa Selbst opened the hijack for 13,000, and right next to her Morten Klein pushed all in for 176,000 from the cut off. Daniel Colman on the button asked how much Klein was playing, and looked and informed himself of the other stacks behind him as well. He then called, and all others folded.

Klein showed {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, and was behind as Colman tabled {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

The {A-Spades} in the window saved Klein, as the {10-Diamonds}, {2-Diamonds}, {5-Clubs}, and {7-Spades} on the turn didn't change anything anymore. Klein is now playing 382,000, while Colman still has 302,000 left.

Formers Champions Battle

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Dan Smith, who won the first installment of this event, checked the {Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop. The defending champion of the European Poker Tour Barcelona €50,000 Super High Roller, Vitaly Lunkin, bet 35,000. Smith called, and the turn was the {9-Hearts}. Smith checked, and Lunkin bet 62,000. After a bit of thought, Smith gave it up, and Lunkin won the pot.

Lunkin Adds More

Level 9 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From the hijack seat, reigning champion Vitaly Lunkin raised to 15,000. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu made the call on the button, and Dong Kim called from the big blind. The flop produced the {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and Kim checked. Lunkin bet 30,000, Negreanu folded, and Kim called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, and Kim checked over to Lunkin once again. Lunkin upped his bet to 70,000, and Kim folded his hand.
