Smith Eliminated; Jacobson Soars

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

World Series of Poker November Niner Martin Jacobson raised to 25,000 from the hijack seat before Dan Smith reraised all in from the small blind for around 220,000. When action got back to Jacobson, he called with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

"Well, that's not good," said Smith as he turned over the {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}, and Smith, the inaugural champion of this event from Season 9, was eliminated. Jacobson soared to over 1.1 million in chips.

Kanit Back Up Over a Million

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Mustapha Kanit was already up to over a million in chips, but dipped down a bit recently. He's up over that million mark again after winning a big pot from Andrew Pantling.

Andrew Pantling opened under the gun, and Kanit in the big blind made the call. Pantling, who has about every 1,000 chip in play at the table, fired three bullets. Pantling bet 33,000 on the {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{J-Hearts}-flop, 74,000 on the {9-Clubs}-turn, and 183,000 on the {2-Diamonds}-river.

Kanit check-called the entire way, only needed some time for thinking on the river. Pantling mucked after being called, and Kanit did the same. So no showdown in this 641,000 pot.

Fee Busts Kurganov

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Ryan Fee (left) and Igor Kurganov
Ryan Fee (left) and Igor Kurganov

Up on the main feature table, Igor Kurganov was all in with the {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} against Ryan Fee's {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. The pot was worth just under one million in chips as Kurganov was all in for 464,000. Fee had him covered.

The flop came down {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, giving Kurganov a set of jacks, but keeping Fee in the mix with a flush draw. The turn nailed the flush for Fee when the {10-Diamonds} fell, but Kurganov could still fill up on the river to double up.

The river was the {Q-Hearts}, and Fee had won with his flush. Kurganov was eliminated as Fee climbed to 1.503 million in chips.

Selbst Value Bets

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

On a {J-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop we saw Vanessa Selbst in middle position check-call a 33,000 bet from Ole Schemion in the cutoff. Both players checked the {K-Spades} on the turn, and Selbst bet out 44,000 on the {2-Hearts}-river. Schemion thought for a bit, and made the call.

Selbst showed {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for two pair, and Schemion mucked claiming to have "One worse" than that.

Quoss Eliminates Thuritz

Level 12 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Mikael Thuritz
Mikael Thuritz

Fabian Quoss opened under the gun for 25,000, and Ismail Erkenov made the call from the small blind. Big blind Mikael Thuritz squeezed to 63,000. Quoss thought about it for some time, and eventually clicked it back with a raise to 105,000. Erkenov folded quickly, and Thuritz instantly jammed for around 300,000. Quoss made the call and it was time for a showdown.

Fabian Quoss: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Mikael Thuritz: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

Thuritz was well in the lead and on the verge of doubling up, but the {10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}-flop spoiled that. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn and {6-Hearts} on the river weren't cards he was looking for, and the Swedish high stakes player made his exit as Quoss had him covered by a few thousand.

Selbst Shoves On Peters While Polk Hypes His "Big Stack"

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

Just before the last break...

From under the gun, David Peters raised to 26,000. Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst called from the cutoff seat, and the two of them saw the flop come down {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Peters led with a bet of 41,000, and Selbst called.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}, and Peters went into the tank for a little bit. While he was thinking, Remko Rinkema tapped table mate Doug Polk on the shoulder to request an interview at the upcoming break a few minutes say. Polk agreed, but said he wanted to go to the bathroom first.

"I'm gonna need like five minutes," said Polk to Rinkema.

"Yeah, sure, no problem," responded Rinkema. "I'll be waiting right here."

As Peters slid forward a bet of 73,000 and Selbst made the call, Scott Seiver piped up and said, "No, make him do it right now! Don't give him a choice," as a joke. Everyone at the table — minus Selbst and Peters who were focused on the hand they were playing — got a good laugh from Seiver's comment.

"Yeah, I'll just follow you into the bathroom with a GoPro," joked Rinkema to Polk.

"Then we'll see who has the big stack!" said Polk without missing a beat and with a big smile on his face, causing the table to burst out in laughter.

While the rest of the table finished the fun, Peters checked the {7-Hearts} river card. Selbst announced that she was all in, putting Peters to the test for his last 220,000. Peters gave it up, and Selbst won the pot.

This led the players into the break, and Polk did return to give PokerNews and Rinkema the interview. It's an interview you won't want to miss, either, because in it Polk challenges Daniel Negreanu in online cash games. Be sure to check that out when it becomes live shortly.

McDonald Out

Level 13 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Up on the main feature table, Mike McDonald was all in with the {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades} against the {K-Clubs}{10-Spades} for Ryan Fee. The flop produced the {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Spades} to put Fee in front, and he stayed there after the {9-Spades} landed on the turn and the {2-Hearts} fell on the river.

With that, Fee moved to over 1.7 million in chips, and the rest of the main feature table chip counts are below:
