Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante

Jean-Noel Thorel limped from the small blind and Ivan Luca checked his option from one seat over after some consideration. On the {8-Spades} {J-Hearts} 9c] flop, Thorel bet 30,000 and called the raise of Luca for another 34,000 on top. The {6-Hearts} turn saw the Frenchman check-call a bet of 32,000 and both players then checked the {6-Clubs} river.

Thorel showed {Q-Hearts} {7-Spades} as first player after the button and Luca had that beat with {9-Hearts} {4-Spades}.

Thorel Calls Down Butzhammer

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 3,000 ante

Nothing much happened within the last few minutes until the very last hand of the level and that would provide some fireworks. Jean-Noel Thorel raised to 75,000 from the button and Thomas Butzhammer defended his big blind. On a flop of {4-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, Butzhammer check-called a bet of 100,000 and then bet 225,000 himself after the {A-Clubs} turn.

The German was called by Thorel and gave it some consideration on the river whether to shove or check. Butzhammer opted for the latter and Thorel checked behind, scooping the pot with {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} against the {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts} of the German. When Butzhammer saw the hand of his opponent, he banged his hands on the table and then stormed off into the break.
