Kitai Can't Beat an Ace

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Davidi Kitai raised to 18,000 from the cutoff and Roman Korenev called out of the big blind to see the {9-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {3-Hearts}. The Russian check-called a continuation bet of 27,000 and then the {7-Clubs} turn and {9-Hearts} river were checked through. Korenev showed the {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} and that won the pot.

Diaz Done For

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Gilbert Diaz
Gilbert Diaz

Ivan Luca opened for 17,000 and Gilbert Diaz raised to 50,000. Nikolay Komcharokov moved all in and when Luca folded Diaz made the call.

Komcharokov: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

Diaz: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The flop of {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} looked pretty grom for Diaz and so it remained as the {9-Hearts} hit the turn and the river {5-Hearts} completed the community cards.

What's the Plan for Day 2?

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

A maximum of 10 one-hour levels are scheduled to be played today unless the official final table of the last eight is already reached prior to that. In this case, everyone will get to bag and tag early.

After the end of the upcoming level 17, a 75-minute dinner break takes place and another three levels after that remain. Bagging and tagging should occur around midnight at the latest and the action then resumes tomorrow at noon.

The break had started and Garret Gruener opened and Laurent Polito moved all in with his short stack.

Gruener made the call with {a-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Polito, who had been shoving fairly frequently, tabled {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

The cards ran out {2-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Polito fell short of the money.

Feddersen and Simunic Have Some Words

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Jospi Simunic got involved in a bigger hand with Ivan Luca and check called two streets before checking the river of a {7-Hearts} {10-Spades} {5-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} board. Luca now bet 57,500 and after not such a long consideration, table short stack Jesper Feddersen asked the dealer if he can ask for time.

The floorman was called and denied the request as not enough time had passed yet. Another minute went bye and then Feddersen asked again. Time was called and Simunic ended up calling off to muck when Luca showed his {Q-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. Feddersen wanted to play more hands on the old level still to have more fold equity on the short stack, but Simunic wasn't amused at all that the German asked for time so quickly.

Butzhammer Getting into the Groove

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

In a battle of the two chip leaders, Thomas Butzhammer checked the river of a {8-Spades} {K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {3-Spades} board and Jonathan Little bet 32,000 out of the big blind. Butzhammer gave it some thought and eventually called out of the small blind. Little showed {Q-Clubs} {2-Clubs} for a bluff whereas Butzhammer had {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs} as winning hand.

Good Game Lopes

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Carlos Lopes
Carlos Lopes

Garret Gruener opened and faced a decision when Carlos Lopes shoved for just over 80,000. Gruener had him well covered and elected to call.

Lopes said he was pretty with his {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} hand when he saw the {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs} of Gruener.

The final board was {k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Hearts} and it was GG Lopes as he headed for the rail.
