Kapalas Soars

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Georgios Kapalas recently eliminated a player without a media identification card, causing the Greek player to soar to the top of the chip counts.

The flop read {10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, and after a series of bets and raises, the hands were turned over to find Kapalas behind but drawing live.

Kapalas: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The turn brought the {Q-Spades}, giving Kapalas a few more outs to make a straight. In the end, he earned the best hand when the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Kapalas opponent stood from the table and knocked all of his chips over in frustration, causing some to fall on the floor. Kapalas, on the other hand, waited patiently for the chips to be collected and pushed his way. After stacking the new chips, his overall arsenal increased to about 755,000.

Edit: It later turned out to be Boutros Naim, though Alfie Adam and the Lebanese busted at the same time.

Schulz Busts In Cruel Fashion

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Robert Schulz
Robert Schulz

Robert Schulz opened the betting and got a call from Guillaume Darcourt.

The flop was {4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Schulz check-called a bet of 14,000 from Darcourt.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and a check from Schulz saw Darcourt bet another 14,000. Schulz took his time before making the call.

The river was the {5-Clubs} and Schulz moved all in for around 60,000.

“All in?” Darcourt asked, and once it was confirmed he called and flipped over his {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for runner-runner quads.

Schulz tumbled his cards over, almost in slow motion. The {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} fell face up on the felt to gasps.

Having run into the straight flush of Kevin MacPhee earlier Schulz was now eliminated by quads. Schulz stumbled away from the table in a daze.

Seat Open for Adam

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

While fellow short stack Ronan Monfort doubled up a few minutes ago, it wasn't meant to be for another short stack. Patryk Slusarek opened to 11,000 and had to call off the shove for 32,500 in total by Alfie Adam. The player at risk had {A-Spades} {9-Spades} but Slusarek got there with the {Q-Hearts} {J-Spades} on a board of {Q-Spades} {6-Clubs} {K-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {10-Clubs}.

Hu Busts

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Gangzhou Hu limped on the button and Marton Czuczor made it 15,000 from the small blind. With the big blind folding Hu made the call.

The flop was {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and, following a check from Czuczor, Hu moved all in. Czuczor instantly called and there was nothing Hu could do except laugh as he saw the top set {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} of Czuczor as he tabled his own {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.
The turn {2-Diamonds} and {q-Hearts} completed the action and they were one closer to the bubble.
