A Set For Filatov

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

We just walked into lots of action on Anatoly Filatov’s table, as the board read {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts} on the turn. Three players, Jannick Wrang, Filatov and Simon Higgins all invested 1,750 after unknown action and the river brought the {8-Spades}.

Wrang bet 4,100 from the small blind and Filatov quickly raised it up to 10,000 which got Higgins to fold. Wrang tanked for quite a while before eventually three-betting to 25,000.

“Nine-ten of diamonds?” Filatov asked out loud.

"It's like the only hand I can't beat," Filatov said before adding, "And a couple more."

Eventually Filatov called and Wrang tabled {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a pair of aces. Filatov showed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for a set and he raked in this big pot.

Levrini Gambles and Doubles

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Gino Levrini
Gino Levrini

We picked up the action on the turn when the board read {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{A-Hearts} as Gino Levrini bet 2,150 into his opponent, Anatoly Filatov.

Filatov quickly put his opponent all in for 9,750 total and Levrini went into the tank for a long time.

"I can do this all day," Filatov said with a smile.

"You've been owning me all day," Levrini responded a bit frustrated.

"Okay, I'll gamble," Levrini ultimately said.

"Jack-nine of hearts?" Filatov asked, as if he knew what his opponent was holding.

Levrini did indeed table {J-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and he was in bad shape against Filatov's {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for higher flush draw.

Levrini was about to leave the room when the {J-Spades} hit the river and Filatov started laughing.

"I doubled you up three times already now," Filatov added, as Levrini's back up to around 25,000 right now.

Margets on the Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{K-Clubs} flop, Team PokerStars Pro Leo Margets fired 1,000 only for the awesomely-named Nurlan Boobekov to raise to 2,550. Margets made the call before both players checked the {8-Diamonds} turn and {K-Hearts} river. Margets showed {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and the turned pair of eights were enough to win her the pot.

Wrang Eliminated by Jouhkimainen

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Jannick Wrang and Joni Jouhkimainen saw a flop of {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} in a raised pot. With just around 7,500 already in the middle, Wrang fired 3,750 on the flop. Jouhkimainen flatted, allowing the board to pair with the {8-Spades} on fourth street.

Wrang slowed on the turn with a check, prompting Jouhkimainen to fire 6,000. Wrang announced a check-raise all in for approximately 21,500 and Jouhkimainen instantly announced a call.

Jouhkimainen: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Wrang: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Jouhkimainen flopped middle set and turned a full house, ensuring him the elimination as the {6-Diamonds} finished off the board. Wrang hit the rail while Jouhkimainen boosted his stack to 90,000.

Zahid's Mistake Pays Dividends

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

On the turn of a {5-Spades}{K-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{6-Spades} board David Cabrera bet 1,300 and Andrei Konopelko made the call before Jabran Zahid threw in three 1k chips. He'd thought the bet had been 2,300 and was forced to make a raise to 3,000.

Cabrera thought for about half a minute and then folded but Konopelko made the call. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Konopelko checked, Zahid made a bet of 4,00 and Konopelko made the call.

Zahid showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Konopelko flashed {K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. Zahid immediately declared he'd genuinely made a mistake raising and had made every intention of calling the bet on the turn.

"Worked out ok for you in the end," quipped someone at the table.

O'Keeffe Over Rettenmaier

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Marvin Rettenmaier and Stephen O'Keeffe saw a flop of {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{J-Hearts} in a raised pot. Rettenmaier was first to act and checked over to O'Keeffe. O'Keeffe fired 3,700 and Rettenamier stuck around.

The turn brought the {K-Hearts} to the felt and Rettenmaier checked for a second time. O'Keeffe followed suit, allowing the board to pair with the {j-Spades} on the river. Both players checked once more and Rettenmaier tabled {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a pair of tens. They were no good, however, as O'Keeffe showed {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} for a higher pocket pair. He took down the pot and brought his stack up to 41,000. Rettenmaier, on the other hand, dropped to about 64,000.
