Lewis' Kings Evaporate Against Cohen's Jacks

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Steve Watts raised before the flop to 900 and Toby Lewis made the call. From his immediate left a player three-bet to 2,700 and the next player, Massou Cohen, called. The big blind called as well and Watts opted to fold.

Lewis gave it some thought before four-betting to 11,000 and the three-bettor folded. Cohen moved all in for 17,075 and Lewis called immediately.

Lewis: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Cohen: {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

"I didn't think you would have kings," Cohen said, as the flop brought {Q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The {J-Hearts} hit on the turn and Cohen made a fist and cheered. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Cohen more than doubled up leaving Lewis with 23,000 chips.

Filatov Was Sure He was Going to Win (Spoiler Alert: He Didn't)

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

The fact we saw Anatoly Filatov standing in the middle of the room, getting his photo taken by one of the floor staff for some reason, already kind of gave it away. When we asked him what had happened, his 'I busted' was not entirely what we were expecting to hear first, but it was a good start.

Filatov told us he three bet someone with jacks, and called the four bet shove that followed for 14,000 effectively. Filatov's opponent had aces.

"I was sure I was gonna win this hand" Filatov smiled. "The flop came seven eight and I had a back door flush draw" the Russian continued. "Turn nine so now I'm just waiting for the ten, I can't lose" Filatov told us still smiling. "River; nothing" he concluded his bust out hand story. So he could lose it turned out.

Still smiling, he made small talk with several players before heading for the exit.

Not Van Zadelhoff's Day

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Steven van Zadelhoff, who's been living on Malta for several years now, has just been knocked out. Van Zadelhoff never got anything going on Day 1b, and he just busted holding pocket jacks.

Van Zadelhoff had 30 big blinds to start his last hand and three-bet from the small blind. The initial raiser, in the cutoff, called with tens and the flop brought out {K-}{10-}{X-}. The remainder of the money went in, and Van Zadelhoff got knocked out by a set of tens.

"Ill Never Complain Again on Malta"

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Dutchman Mateusz Moolhuizen has been around for a few years but his career got jump-started after a big win here in Malta. In the Portomasso casino back in March of 2011 Moolhuizen won the Unibet Open for €117,000, and he hasn't looked back since.

Over the years Moolhuizen has won the Sunday Warm-Up and finished fourth in a big WCOOP event for $212,000 and finished 16th in the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event that was ultimately won by Steve O'Dwyer.

Right now Moolhuizen's back where it all started, and he's running extremely well right off the bat.

"I'll never complain again here on Malta," Moolhuizen said with a bit smile after he explained to us how he won two pots with aces versus ace-king. Right now Moolhuizen sits on 48,000 and that's a very nice stack in the sixth level of the day.

Palumbo Folds Trips

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

On a board of {K-Hearts}{A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} Rocco Palumbo was seen betting 1,300 from the small blind. His opponent was the player on the button and that player made the call.

The river came the {7-Hearts} and Palumbo bet 3,500 with about 10,000 behind. His neighbor on the button thought for some time, and at one point cut out 3,500 for a call. Another twenty seconds later he all of the sudden moved all in.

Palumbo took one last peek at his cards, and folded while showing the {K-Spades} for trips. His opponent didn't follow suit, the button quietly mucked without revealing anything.

Aido Going Up Again

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Joining the action on the {6-Clubs} {K-Spades} {8-Hearts} flop, Sergio Aido bet 1,700 out of the big blind and was called by one opponent to fire the {4-Spades} turn for 2,900. Again the Spaniard received a call and then bet the {Q-Spades} river for 5,000. His opponent quickly called and then sighed when Aido showed {K-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} for two pair.

Reinkemeier Bad Beats Pollak

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Tobias Reinkemeier
Tobias Reinkemeier

Tobias Reinkemeier three-bet an open raise of Benjamin Pollak from 900 to 2,400 and then moved all in via five-bet shove once the Frenchman had clicked it up to 5,300. Pollak snap-called for 21,000 with pocket aces and Reinkemeier was caught with the fingers in the cookie jar, turning over his {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs}.

However, the flop produced three clubs and Pollak was drawing dead after the turn. Just to rub it in even more, the last ace in the deck fell on the river.
