Kovtunov Eliminated by the Good Ol' Queen-Five

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Peter Turmezey opened for 12,000 and got called by the cutoff and button before Glib Kovtunov shoved all in fromt he small blind for 44,000. The big blind folded and Turmezey thought for a bit before isolating to 80,000. The cutoff and button quickly folded and the hands were turned over.

Peter Turmezey: {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Glib Kovtunov: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Kovtunov got up from the table as if he knew what was going to happen. Turmezey, one of the earliest internet famous young online MTT players, indeed hit top pair: {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}. The {2-Diamonds} on the turn and {8-Hearts} on the river didn't change a thing anymore and Kovtunov made his way to the exit.

Lebedev versus Sotiropoulos

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Sergey Lebedev three-bet a raise of Georgios Sotiropoulos from 14,000 to 36,000 and was called to go heads-up to the flop of {8-Spades} {3-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. The Greek check-called a bet of 42,000 before the {J-Clubs} turn was checked. On the {2-Diamonds} river, Sotiropoulos checked again and then folded to another heavy bet.

Ravnsbaek Eliminated

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Simon Ravnsbaek
Simon Ravnsbaek

Simon Ravnsbaek just bust in back to back hands. He first called a short stacked shove from holding {3-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Troyanovskiy had {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and went ahead on the flop of a final board of {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{j-Spades}.

Ravnsbaek was then short himself but was dealt {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} on the next hand and got looked up by Panagiotis Papaisidorou holding {q-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Look away now if you don’t want to see how that ended. A final board of {8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} gave Papaisidorou a full house to eliminate Ravnsbaek.

Solyom Doubles Stack

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

A shove from Anirudh Seth saw Nandor Solyom make the call after some brief confusion on whether he’d meant to. Either way the cards were on their backs and the chips at risk.

Seth had {a-Spades}{q-Spades} and Solyom the {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

The board was {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} which gave Solyom a winning pair and a double up.

Karim Eliminated By Raviv

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Zo Karim
Zo Karim

We arrived at the table just as Anton Bertilsson raised it up to 12,000 from under the gun plus one. Idan Raviv then bumped it up to 31,000 from the hijack before Zo Karim moved all in from the cut off. Bertilsson mucked his hand, and with the decision back on Raviv, he made the call.

Raviv: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Karim: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Karim was up against the over pair and would find no help from the {9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} board.

Three Double Ups

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Towards the end of level 18, three double ups occurred. Milan Sasek dropped some chips after Reto Timucin Locher doubled up for 56,000 with {A-Spades} {5-Clubs} versus the Czech's {A-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} on a board of {2-Spades} {8-Spades} {5-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {K-Clubs}.

Then, Omar Lakhdari lost 67,000 chips with {A-Clubs} {7-Clubs} against the {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} of Evgenii Starikov with the board running out {K-Spades} {4-Hearts} {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {2-Spades}.

In the very last hand of the level, Andy Seth three-bet shoved for 118,000 with {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} and was in bad shape against the {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} of Georgios Sotiropoulos. However, the dealer came to the rescue on the river of a {5-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Clubs} {J-Hearts} board.
