Cody Check-Raises Schwartz on the River

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody checked to Noah Schwartz on a board of {k-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Schwartz fired out 23,000, and Cody tanked for a bit before check-raising to 78,000.

Schwartz made the call, the mucked when Cody showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a pair of kings.

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Kevin Iacofano
Kevin Iacofano

Kevin Iacofano was all in and at risk preflop holding {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} against Team PokerStars Pro Johhny Lodden's {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Despite having Lodden dominated, Iacofano was forced to chop when the board rolled off {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

"I felt like I was either going to win or chop that one," Lodden said after the hand.

"Really?" Iacofano responded. "Because I thought I was either going to win or chop that one."

Mercier Loses Some More

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Jason Mercier and Igor Kurganov

The flop read {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} when two Team PokerStars Pros clashed. Victor Ramdin had just check-raised Jason Mercier from the big blind to 40,000 and the action was on the under-the-gun player. Mercier eventually raised to 78,000 and that put the pressure back on Ramdin.

Ramdin had the dealer pull in the bets right after which he moved all in. Mercier was not pleased and folded after about 20 seconds. Ramdin climbs into the top 10 while Mercier dropped some more chips.

Big Hit For Torelli

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Alec Torelli was just knocked down to just over 10 big blinds after running into Stephane Benadiba's aces. Benadiba ended up all in preflop for 114,000 chips while Torelli had him covered by just 64,000.

Torelli: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Benadiba: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Benadiba doubled up.

Mitchell Doubles Through Juanda

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

John Juanda raised from the button after which James Mitchell moved all in from the small blind for right around 46,000 chips. Juanda quickly called.

Juanda: {Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Mitchell: {A-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Mitchell doubled up but remains one of the short stacks in the tournament.

Negreanu Afraid of Lodden

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Negreanu

"Queen? I was afraid of that." Said Daniel Negreanu to fellow Team PokerStars Pro Johnny Lodden after he paid him off in the river.

Lodden started the hand with an under-the-gun raise and Negreanu was the only caller from the next seat.

The flop fell {q-Spades}{2-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Lodden continued for 15,000. Call. Both checked the {q-Diamonds} turn before Lodden led for 38,000 on the {a-Diamonds} river.

Negreanu called to see Lodden's {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}. The Canadian flashed an ace and mucked.

Ain't That a Pitcho

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Didier Pitcho led out for 17,000 on a flop of {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}. Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier called, and the turn brought the {2-Diamonds}.

Pitcho slowed down, checking to Mercier who grabbed a handful of chips.

"Forty-four," he said, tossing them forward.

Pitcho reached into his stack, and made the call.

A repeat deuce - the {2-Spades} - completed the board, and both players quickly checked. Mercier ripped over {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for a pair of jacks, but Pitcho had that beat with {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for a pair of kings.

Patel Kaput

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

When we arrived at the table, Emil Patel was all in and at risk preflop for his last 100,000 or so holding {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Daniel Carlsson was well ahead with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, and the tens held as the board came {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

Patel hit the rail, while Carlsson now sits with around 175,000 chips.
