Ingnat Leaving

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ignat Liviu's day has come to an end after he lost a race in a battle of the blinds.

The action folded around to Goran Mandic in the small blind and he raised. Liviu moved all in for 117,500 from the big blind and was called.

Liviu: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Mandic: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran {6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} to make the Croatian PokerStars qualifier two pair.

Jackpot For Juanda

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
John Juanda
John Juanda

John Juanda just won the jackpot after almost tripling up, and knocking out Per Ummer in the progress. The hand started quite casually as Ummer raised, Juanda called on the button and German Simon Dansker did so as well from the big blind.

The flop brought {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Dansker checked to Ummer who bet 19,500. Juanda put in a raise from the button to around 65,000 after which Dansker moved all in from the small blind. Dansker had both players covered but Ummer did not hesitate one second before committing his 140,000-chip stack.

With Ummer all in Juanda had an even bigger decision as he was risking his tournament life against two players in case he decided to play. About 20 seconds later Juanda decided to call and a three-way showdown was upon us.

Ummer: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Dansker: {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Juanda: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

"They are literally drawing dead on the turn if you hit a diamond," Negreanu said as all three players were awaiting the next card.

The dealer put out the {5-Diamonds} on the turn and Juanda hit the nut flush. Negreanu pointed out that Ummer was drawing dead but Dansker still had two outs left to bust both players, the three and the eight of diamonds. The river brought the {4-Hearts} though and Juanda raked in a massive pot. Ummer was knocked out and Dansker was left behind with little chips.

Pantling's Big Bet Gets a Fold from Anderson

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

After check-calling a bet of 15,000 on the {J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop from Calvin Anderson, Andrew Pantling then checked the {4-Diamonds} turn. Anderson checked behind.

The river completed the board with the {A-Spades}, and Pantling fired a bet of 100,000. Anderson took only a couple seconds, then folded, and Pantling won the pot.

Keston Hits the Rail

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Vasili Firsau opened for 11,000 in late position, and Robin Keston three-bet jammed for 85,000 on the button. The rest of the players folded, and the hands were opened.

Firsau: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Keston: {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

Firsau extended his lead when the flop came {3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, but Keston picked up a wheel draw when the turn brought the {5-Spades}.

The {10-Spades} on the river was a brick however, and Keston was eliminated. Firsau now sits with around 310,000 chips.

Schwartz Doubles

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Calvin Anderson opened for a raise from under the gun, and Luke Schwartz moved all in for 45,000 or so out of the small blind. Anderson made the call.

Anderson: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}
Schwartz: {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Schwartz was basically hiding in his own arms when the dealer fanned {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{a-Clubs}. Despite flopping a pair, the Brit was still quite nervous, as Anderson picked up a gut-shot straight draw.

The {2-Hearts} was a brick, and Schwartz was able to come out of hiding once the {10-Clubs} completed the board.

Schwartz doubled to 100,000 chips, while Anderson still commands a monster stack of roughly 840,000.

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Petersen Finds Aces When Two Opponents Find Kings!

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A sick set-up just occurred that saw Mickey Petersen triple up to more than 200,000.

The PokerStars Team Online member opened to 10,000 before Ignat Liviu three-bet to 21,000 from the cut-off. Noah Schwartz was in the big blind and put in a four-bet to 56,000. It didn't take too long for Petersen to commit the rest of his 71,500 stack and Liviu his 211,000 stack.

Schwartz said that the situation was some kind of set up but said he had to call.

Petersen: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}
Liviu: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Schwartz: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The board ran {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} to send all the chips the Dane's way.

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Gavriilidis: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Carlsson: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Carlsson doubled up.

Something Goofy

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu talks as much as he raises but just now he decided to give one up. We caught the action on the flop when Negreanu bet 16,500 after Matthew Ashton had checked. Negreanu was chatting to Ashton the entire time while the Brit tried to maintain his straight face.

Ashton ultimately called after which the turn brought the {5-Hearts}. Ashon checked again and Negreanu said, "Let's try something goofy now," as he threw out 29,500. Ashton tanked again after which he made the call.

The river brought the {9-Clubs} and Ashton checked once more.

"White flag! I wave the white flag," Negreanu said right before he checked behind and turned over {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}, "I missed," he added.

Ashton showed {Q-Spades}{7-Clubs} and took down this pot while Negreanu still remains far above the average stack.
