Afonso Spikes the River
Level 14
: Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
The player in the hijack shoved for their last 30,000 and just behind him, Patrick Afonso called in the cutoff. Everyone else folded and a showdown was held.
Hijack: A♥Q♠
Patrick Afonso: A♠J♦
Afonso found himself dominated, and the 2♦10♠3♥ flop and 4♥ turn changed nothing. However, the J♠ river paired Afonso's jack at the last moment to provide him with the winning hand and elimination.
