Guillaume Nolet Wins GG Spring Festival Event H-06: $25,500 Sunday Five Million ($1,084,892)

The first seven-figure payday of the 2021 GG Spring Festival has been granted and it was Guillaume Nolet to open the record-breaking series in style. Nolet defeated Andras Nemeth in the heads-up of Event H-06: $25,500 Sunday Five Million to score the top prize of $1,084,892. Runner-up Nemeth had to settle for a consolation prize of $813,554 out of a field of 198 entries.

The joint most expensive tournament of the festival came up short of the ambitious $5 million guarantee by just $50,000 and eight of the nine finalists earned six-figure prizes. With so much money on the line, it still only took fewer than two and a half hours to determine a champion in French-Canadian Nolet.

Among the other finalists were also Francisco "VaPaCooler" Benitez, Raise Your Edge founder Benjamin Rolle, Pokercode co-founder Matthias Eibinger, Elio Fox, Yuri Dzivielevski, "FlowTao" and Juan Pardo Dominguez.

Action of the Final Day

Andras Nemeth entered the final table with more than two times as many chips as his nearest follower Guillaume Nolet. The middle of the pack was quite crowned with several players separated by a few big blinds only. The cards were barely in the air when Juan Pardo Dominguez was sent to the rail already.

Coming into the final table as the shortest stack on 13 and a half blinds, Pardo lost a flip with pocket sevens against the ace-queen of Matthias Eibinger. Another three contenders bowed out before the first break. Georgia's "FlowTao" ran into the flopped trips of Nemeth and Yuri Dzivielevski also came up short against the Hungarian.

Nolet notched up his elimination when ace-four suited got there to beat the ace-queen of Elio Fox. That vaulted the Canadian into second place. Eibinger was never able to get much going on the final table and his run ended in fifth place. Nolet did the work once more, coming out on top of a flip with eights versus ace-queen.

Down to the final four players, the stacks were very balanced for a short period and Benjamin Rolle even took over the lead for a few hands. However, Nolet vaulted into the top spot and knocked out the German poker coach when his ace-deuce made trips when facing pocket nines in a preflop contest.

That hand cemented the overwhelming lead for Nolet, who needed just another 15 minutes to close it out. First, he sent Francisco "VaPaCooler" Benitez out in third place when turning a superior pair.

Nemeth was never able to close the gap despite one double up and ultimately fell short of victory when he called a river-jam with pocket tens on a paired king-high board. Nolet had flopped the superior pair with king-queen and emerged as the first player with a seven-figure score.

Plenty of other high-stakes contests will follow in the weeks to come, most notably another eight $25,500 High Rollers including two Sunday Five Million editions. The PokerNews team will provide live updates from selected highlight events throughout the record-setting festival.

Andras Nemeth
Andras Nemeth

Guillaume Nolet once again applied his limping strategy and Andras Nemeth raised to 560,000 out of the big blind, which resulted in a call from Nolet.

The flop brought {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and Nemeth continued for 290,000, Nolet stuck around.

Nemeth slowed down and checked the {5-Diamonds} turn, prompting a bet of 880,000 by Nolet and a call.

On the {2-Hearts} river, Nemeth checked with 2,488,520 behind and Nolet moved all-in. Nolet used more than two minutes of his remaining time bank and eventually called it off with {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. It was no good, as Nolet's {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} reigned supreme to end the tournament.

Elio Fox: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Guillaume Nolet: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}

The {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop propelled Nolet into the lead and he stayed there after the {3-Clubs} turn and {6-Spades} river brought no change. Fox was eliminated in 6th place and has to settle for $257,268.

Blinds 35,000-70,000

The action folded to Andras Nemeth in the small blind and he shipped it in for more than 7 million. Yuri Dzivielevski had 380,172 behind in the big blind and reluctantly called it off as the far shortest stack.

Yuri Dzivielevski: {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Andras Nemeth: {a-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Both paired up on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop and the {2-Diamonds} turn opened some chop opportunities. However, the {3-Spades} river was not what Dzivielevski was looking for and he departed in 7th place for $192,924.

A Champion Will be Crowned in GG Spring Festival Event H-06: $25,500 Sunday Five Million

Andras Nemeth
Andras Nemeth

The 2021 GG Spring Festival officially kicked off yesterday and more than $15 million in guarantees sent the record-setting series off to a flying start. And on the second day of the festival, the first millionaire will be crowned unless a deal is cut in Event H-06: $25,500 Sunday Five Million. The lion's share of the $5 million guarantee is up for grabs and the tournament caused a minor overlay of just $50,000 as 198 entries emerged.

Only nine players remain in contention and a very familiar face of the international high-stakes poker scene sits atop the leaderboard. Andras Nemeth is the odds-on favorite with a massive stack of 5,972,752, as he holds more than his nearest followers Guillaume Nolet (2,557,181) and Francisco "VaPaCooler" Benitez (2,324,245) have combined at their disposal.

Not far behind is a trio of notables including Elio Fox (2,306,206), Benjamin Rolle (2,300,124), and Matthias Eibinger (1,813,000). Among the short stacks below 1 million in chips are Yuri Dzivielevski (975,172), FlowTao" (874,592), and Juan Pardo Dominguez (676,728).

Big Blinds based on the final table roll-back to ensure an average of at least 40 blinds

To secure an average stack of at least 40 big blinds, the blinds are slated to roll back to 25,000/50,000 with a running ante of 6,000. Unlike the structure for Day 1, each level for the remainder of the tournament will feature 20 hands until the winner has been crowned.

All finalists have $108,489 locked up and the winner is destined to earn a payday of $1,084,892. However, deals are permitted on this final table and thus the final amounts may be different.

Upon returning to their seats at 8.05 p.m. GMT, the nine finalists will draw for their seats in order of chip count from lowest to highest. Once that process is completed, the action will kick off and the PokerNews live reporting team will be there to provide all the key hands.
