Mizzi Has a Lead, Looking to Extend the Series

Sorel Mizzi flopped a full house and then got paid off when he bet the river. He is now in the lead against Pascal Lefrancois with the blinds getting pretty big at this point in the match. Lefrancois, who is undefeated so far in the GPL playoffs will have to get a little lucky if he wants to close out the series and remain undefeated.

Game #9: Pascal Lefrancois v. Sorel Mizzi

Lavallee Beats Rast, Nationals Leads 5-3

Jason Lavallee won his second of three matches against previously undefeated Brian Rast. Lavallee and Rast have offered some of the best heads up play of the finals so far. Lavallee now puts the Montreal Nationals one game away from being the first-ever GPL Champions.

On one of the key hands, Jason Lavallee limped the small blind and Brian Rast checked his option.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Rast bet 22,000 with {q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Lavallee called with {9-Spades}{5-Spades}.

The turn was the {2-Spades} and Rast bet again, this time making it 55,000. Lavallee called.

The river was the {10-Spades} and Rast bet a third time. He bet 129,800. Lavallee agonized for about one and a half minutes before calling and winning the hand with a pair of fives.

Brian Rast and Jason Lavallee Basically Even After 23 Hands

Brian Rast and Jason Lavallee are in the cube again. This matchup is probably the best and most entertaining matchup of the Final so far.

Game #8: Brian Rast v. Jason Lavallee

Bill Perkins Comes From Behind This Time, Beats Mike McDonald to Make it 4-3

Bill Perkins got all in and at risk with ace-ten against the ace-queen of Mike McDonald.

Perkins felt that it was just more of his poor luck against McDonald, but a ten on the flop gave him the lead and he didn't look back. He eventually would go on to defeat McDonald and make it 4-3 in the best-of-eleven series.

Mike McDonald Running Hot, Takes Lead From Perkins

Bill Perkins bet 22,000 on a {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop. Mike McDonald raised to 55,000 holding {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for trip eights.

Perkins had {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a flopped two pair and three-bet to 137,500. McDonald just called, leaving 131,000 behind.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and the two got all in. McDonald had a full house and Perkins could not catch up.

McDonald Doubles Up With a Miracle Ten

Mike McDonald rivered Bill Perkins again after getting all in behind. McDonald had ace-ten versus the ace-queen of Perkins and hit a ten on the river to double up.

He still has some work to do against Perkins, who is still well in the lead.

Flush Over Flush Gives Perkins a Big Lead Early

Mike McDonald made a queen-high flush and bet 26,000 on the river. Bill Perkins had the king-high flush and three-bet to 126,000. McDonald called and Perkins was off to a solid start.
