"BTPsOverpriced" has come through Day 1 of the 2020 Grosvenor Goliath Main Event to claim the chip lead with a stack worth 1,148,820.

When Day 2 resumes at 2 pm BST on Sunday, August 9, their nearest rivals will be "ChiZhang", "kissmyace1" and "WilfredWallace".

The 2020 Goliath Main Event £100,000 guarantee was more than doubled after 2,013 entries created a £231,495 prize pool.

What that means for the remaining Day 2 players is that they will have their eyes set on the £42,248 first-place prize.

But the first hurdle to conquer will be the money-bubble, with 144 places paid and a min-cash worth £370.

Team Grosvenor's Jamie Nixon, Katie Swift, Andy Hills, Joe Beevers, and Jeff Kimber all made it past the level 13 late registration, but one by one they fell before the end of the action.

The latest addition to the Grosvenor poker team David "TheHayemaker" Haye was also unable to progress to Day 2 after he saw the last of his bullets come to nothing just before the end of the late reg. period. Haye was unlucky at times, and despite a slow start, he did manage to get going, only to run pocket kings into pocket aces.

However, Team Grosvenor will have representation in Day 2 after Rick Trigg ended Day 1 with a 121,057 stack.
