Day 2 of GUKPT Reading £1,000 Main Event is in the books, after ten levels of play from The Grosvenor Casino Reading South. The Main Event108 hopefuls, including 11 max late registrations before play started, all with a chance at the title. Just 14 remain going into the final day's action.

Play took until about half way through the day to get down to the bubble, with 34 players getting a return on their investment. It was Duc Cao who finished in 35th after he got in top pair in a multiway hand against a full house. The remaining 34 players were playing for a top prize of £78,260.

From the bubble to the end of Day 2 saw 34 turn to 14, with no bust outs in the entire level 19. In the money were Lithuania’s Migle Kriksciunaite in 26th, Leo Worthington in 25th and Renee Xie in 20th, just to name a few.

Some stack coming back to Day 3 are pros Jack Hardcastle (680,000), Jack Loraine (565,000) and Kuljinder Sidhu (505,00), all of which had a swingly last hour of play, trading stacks and bluffing in big pots against one another.

Set Over Set Sends Rutter To Rail

Level 15 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Stuart Rutter

After Stuart Rutter had moved all in on a flop of {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts}, Leon Campbell snapped him off for his last 61,000 or so, with about 100,000 already in the pot.

Stuart Rutter: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Leon Campbell: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

It was a sickening cooler for Rutter, who ran a set into top set and the {10-Hearts} meant death by quads. A {9-Hearts} completed the board.

Hardcastle Loses The Min In A Bizarre Aces Versus Kings Scenario

Level 13 : Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Jack Hardcastle

After Duc Cao limped in from early position, Jack Hardcastle raised to 8,000. It folded back to Cao and he made the call.

On a flop of {j-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Hardcastle bet 6,000 after Cao checked, the call was made setting up a turn.

A {q-Spades} turn got a check-call again from Cao, after Hardcastle bet 22,000.

When a {5-Diamonds} completed the board, Cao checked and Hardcastle fired 54,000. Cao's response was going deep into the tank, rubbing his forehead, with a pained frown painted across his face.

Ultimately Cao decided to call as Hardcastle happily turned over {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}. Cao then flipped over none other than {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} as he got a look of befuddlement from Hardcastle as he raked the pot in.
