Two in a Row for Baumer

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Don Baumer won a three way all in with aces, when he hit a straight on the river to come from behind against Bruce Peery. If that wasn't enough, on the next hand he picked up another 22,000 from Joey McCaig when he flopped a set of queens.

The first hand started with four players seeing a limped pot. Then consecutively, the Cicero Kid, Baumer and Peery went all in on the {j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop.

Baumer had {a-}{a-}, Peery {j-Clubs}{10-Spades} and the Kid {9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {k-Spades}{q-Spades}, giving Baumer broadway and eliminating the Kid. It also took a huge chunk out of Peery's stack.

On the next hand, Mccaig opened to 4,000 and Baumer quickly made it 12,000. McCaig called.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and both players checked. The turn was the {7-Spades} and McCaig checked again. This time Baumer bet 10,000 and McCaig called.

The river was the {10-Spades} and McCaig checked again. Baumer made it 15,000 and McCaig folded.

Prompted by the table to show queens, Baumer slapped two queens on the table, showing a set.

He won his seat in a $50 satellite back in February and just busted his neighbor Tim Vance. He is a St. Louis local whose poker experience to date has mostly been in home games.

"If everyone wants to chop right now, I'll take it," he said.
