HPO Columbus Regional Championship

Day 2 Started

Scott Dehm Leads the Pack Heading Into Day Two

Day 1 Chip Leader, Scott Dehm
Day 1 Chip Leader, Scott Dehm

Yesterday, the Hollywood Poker Open kicked off their final stop in this six-event second season, as the HPO Columbus Regional Championship in Ohio kicked off. After setting a season high in terms of turnout at the last stop in Charles Town with 72 entries, HPO officials were confident a new record would be set here, and they were right as they would end up with 126 entries before the day was over. This generated a prize pool of $202,754 with a $60,827 payout awaiting the eventual winner. Thirteen players will make the money today, with a minimum cash taking home $4,055.

After a grueling day of action on the felt, the field of 126 was culled to just 29 survivors. Scott Dehm bagged the most chips with an impressive 270,200 next to his name. He was followed closely by John Michalak (215,200), and Nick Guagenti (207,200). Other notable chip stacks included the likes of Ryan Pochedly (148,700), Joseph Couden (134,100), and Trevor Renner (131,500).

2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker would attempt to win his 2nd HPO Championship Event of 2014 but would be eliminated and ultimately he decided not to fire a second bullet. Local poker pro Shawn Cunix would battle for position throughout the day, with his family watching for a majority of the time, and would end with 76,200 in chips.

Keep it here throughout the day as PokerNews provides live continuous coverage of the HPO Columbus Regional Championship.

Christopher Collins Doubles Up With Nut Flush

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

We get to the table after hearing "All In" and "Call" and the board showing {Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. Trevor Renner has {3-}{3-} in front of him for a flopped set. He was, unfortunately for him, chased down by Christopher Collins who had {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. He had flopped top pair with the nut flush draw, turned two pair, and rivered the nut flush. Collins scored a huge double up while Renner was crippled down to just 10,000 in chips.

Nick Guagenti Knocks Out Two

"Gosh Dangit, the case Ace," came the cry from Dustin Bryan over at Table 22. We get to the table and two players, one of them being Bryan, are heading away from the table. In the meantime, Nick Guagenti is stacking a pile of chips with his hand sitting in front of him, {A-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Bryan had {3-}{3-} and the flop had come {A-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} and all the chips went into the middle. The third player, Jay Harless, was drawing thin with {A-}{J-}.

The case Ace, the {A-Hearts}, was delivered on the turn to give Guagenti a better full house. The river was the {10-Spades} and Bryan and Harless were eliminated.
