Johnson Takes One from Deadman

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 100 ante

After busting the World Series of Poker $10,000 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em Championship in 39th place for $16,078 across town, Simon Deadman, winner of the Hollywood Poker Open Season 2 Championship Event for $351,097, came over to register late for this event in hopes of a second title. He busted his first bullet, but quickly reentered.

On this hand, Deadman called a raise to 2,500 from Chris Johnson, who had opened from early position. The flop was {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and both players checked. They also checked the {8-Spades} on the turn to see the {9-Diamonds} land on the river. Deadman bet 3,500, and Johnson called.

Deadman was bluffing with the {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and it was Johnson's {A-Clubs}{J-Hearts} that won the pot with a jack-high straight.

Vieira Doubles Through Varnell

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

From early position, Craig Varnell raised to 2,500. Chris Johnson called on the button, then Joao Vieira reraised all in for 11,000 from the big blind. Varnell reraised all in for about 65,000, and Johnson tank-folded.

Vieira had the {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and Varnell had the {A-Spades}{J-Spades}. Johnson claimed he had the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

The flop, turn, and river ran out {Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades}{J-Clubs}, and Vieira doubled up.

Michael Aron
Michael Aron

Michael Aron bet 30,000 on the {5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{5-Spades} board, and Shashank Jain made the call to see the {9-Hearts} complete the board on the river. Jain had about 70,000 or 75,000 left, and Aron moved all in with a little bit more. Jain tanked for a little, then folded, and Aron was pushed the pot.

Les Has Less

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The button made it 2,300 and late-registrant and relative short stack Jason Les three-bet the small blind, making it 5,000 total.

The big blind folded and the button called. After tanking it out for 30 seconds, Les bet 4,600 on the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs} flop and after the button shoved, he folded, leaving himself a little more than 10,000 chips behind.

"That's An Insane Play"

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

After a player limped in from under the gun, Connor Drinan raised to 4,000 on the button. Calvin Anderson called out of the big blind, the limper called, and the flop fell {9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}. Anderson led with a bet of 5,200, and the next player folded. Drinan raised to 14,000, and then Anderson came back over the top with a reraise to about 65,000 to put Drinan all in. Drinan gave it up, but not without comment.

"What'd you have?" asked Drinan. "That's an insane play! What'd you have?"

Anderson wouldn't answer and stacked up to 141,000 in chips.
