The second of four initial flights at the Heartland Poker Tour Golden Gates Casino is set to begin today in beautiful Black Hawk, Colorado.
Yesterday’s Day 1a flight drew 82 entries with 17 players or an abnormally large figure of around 20 percent of the field advancing to Day 2. After nearly 12 hours inside the Golden Gates Poker Parlour, it was local rounder Greg Geller who bagged the chip lead with a stack of 336,000. Carlos Lopez was the only other player to bag a stack north of 300,000, finishing the day with 316,000.
Day 1b will see cards in the air at noon local time. Players will receive 30,000 starting stacks and play will continue until the completion of Level 15 at around 11:45 p.m. local time tonight. Levels are 40 minutes long with 15-minute breaks after every three levels. There will be a one-hour dinner break after Level 9. Registration will remain open through the dinner break until the beginning of Level 10
Today is second of four starting days with unlimited re-entry available through all remaining flights for those who find themselves eliminated from the tournament. All players who do survive and advance to Day 2 will return on Sunday at 11 a.m. to play into the money and down to the nationally-televised final table.

A player in middle position opened to 400 and Cliff Flesher called from the cutoff. Both players in the blinds called as well to take action four ways to a flop of . All four players checked.
The turn came and all four players checked again. The river fell and the two blinds checked to the original raiser in middle position, who bet 1,300. Flesher called and both blinds folded.
The original raiser showed for a pair of jacks with a ten kicker and Flesher tabled , good to take the pot down with queen kicker to go along with his pair of jacks.

There was 3,200 in the pot on a board of and a player in early position bet 1,200 into Keith McCarthy who was in the cutoff. McCarthy raised to 3,200 and his opponent called.
The river came and the early position player checked. McCarthy flung a red, T$5,000 chip in the air to the middle of the table and his opponent thought for about 35 seconds before matching the bet.
