Tens Doom Thurman with Elimination

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Keith Thurman
Keith Thurman

Keith Thurman's HPT Columbus Main Event was undone by pocket tens on consecutive hands.

Thurman lost a good portion of his stack to Thila Narayanan on the first hand when he got in all in preflop with {10-}{10-} but ran into the {a-}{a-} of Narayanan. The board ran out {2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} to secure the pot for Narayanan.

The very next hand Thurman moved all in from under the gun and was called by Jerry Miller in the big blind. This time it was Miller who had {10-}{10-} which dominated the {9-Clubs}{9-} of Thurman.

The board provided a flicker of hope when three clubs came down on a {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board through the turn. But the {k-Hearts} river confirmed Thurman's elimination.

Rosso: {q-}{j-}
Eyster: {q-}{q-}

Eyster's set of queens eliminated Russo in 25th place for 5,623.

Roberts Eliminated by Friedman

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Shawn Roberts
Shawn Roberts

Adam Friedman raised preflop and was called by Shawn Roberts who was in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. Roberts moved all in and was snap called by Friedman who flipped over the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} which was ahead of the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} of Roberts.

Roberts would need one of the remaining aces or a nine to stay alive. But the turn was the {10-Hearts} and the river was the {6-Hearts} to preserve Friedman's rockets.

Sabbia Over a Million in Chips

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

A player under the gun raised to 35,000, Mike Sabbia called in middle position. Kevin Eyster called in the hijack position and the blind called as well. The flop came {4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and it was checked around.

The turn came the {10-Clubs} and Sabbia bet 100,000. Eyster called going to the river.

The river was the {5-Diamonds}, Sabbia bet 125,000 and Eyster once again called. Sabbia showed him the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for the set of jacks and Eyster mucked his cards.

Wince Doubles Through the River

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

There was a preflop all-in situation with the {a-Clubs}{5-Spades} of Ryan Wince having been called by Ben Grise who had {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

The board ran out clean for Grise for four cards {k-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{k-Spades} before the river saved Wince when it came the {a-Spades}.

Wince got a huge double up and Grise took a hit to his stack.

Wagner Building a Stack Late

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Daniel Wagner raised to 35,000 in early position and a player in middle position made the call. The flop came {j-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, and Wagner made a continuation bet of 30,000 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {7-Spades} and it was checked around.

The river came the {6-Spades} and again it was checked around and Wagner showed him the {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}. His ace high was good to take down the pot. More importantly it put him in good position with almost a million in chips.
